SUPER CONVENIENT - VERY NICE

Liked the location and convenience to the airport and all the activity in the STRAND. Was able to take the train from Heathrow switch to the underground and walk the two blocks to the hotel. Will always make this my base when I go to London.

Great location, but...

I previously stayed in this hotel 6 months ago, and found my outway-facing room relatively comfortable. The big selling point for me is the location, as your literally minutes away from Covent Garden, and just a short walk away from Charing Cross tube, so you can get all over London in no time. So when I stayed this time, I expected much of the same... wrong! The check-in staff are very courteous, and even found that I had stayed before, so I assumed that I would be given a room at the same standard (or hopefully better) - what a wrong assumption! I was given a room that faced inwards into one of the courtyards, and you could have raised tropical plants in the room it way that hot! I attempted to open the windows to get some fresh air circulating, but one of the windows would not open at all, and the other one only 3 inches. To make matters worse, the shutters that you close at night completely seal the room off from outside, so even if you do have the windows open, any air that might blow in is totally prevented by these wooden shutters. You are provided with a small desk fan, but the lack of plug sockets in the room means that you can't place them anywhere near the bed. Out of three nights, I only had one with any sleep, and that was due to a dose of Nytol! The rooms otherwise are modern, but very small. you may also have a problem in the showers if you are tall - I'm 6' 2" and I had to crouch in the shower as my head was against the ceiling (and also to dodge the extremely hot downlight that's in the shower cubicle!) Upon checkout, I discovered that if you complain about the windows, they will get housekeeping to 'adjust' the windows so that they can be opened further - although what they would do about the shutters I don't know. In brief, if you are after a hotel that is in the centre of it all, with good links to the rest of the city (and can get an outway-facing room), then the hotel is good value for money. However, if you get an inside room, then ask for a change of room!!

Good location and reasonable prices

My husband and I were first time visitors to London. This hotel was clean and moderately affordable for London standards. The room was clean and had comfortable bedding. The bath room was very nice and spacious with a walk in shower. There was no airconditoning but because of the time of year we visited it was not a problem. There was a fan provided for circulation. If someone suffers with allergies this could be an issue. Strand Palace was conveniently located for public transportation and local eateries. We chose to eat a full breakfast in the hotel daily and it was delicious.

strand Palace Hotel

Good location; walking distance to river and boat rides. City tour bus just down the road. Portiere friendly and helpful. Reataurants around the corner. Bar and breakfast a bit pricey. Small room, comfy bedding. Coffee and tea available in room. No security from inside room: household-staff entered daily, with and without knocking.

Great location

We had a great experience in London. The hotel is very centrally located (close to Trafalgar Square, the river and the subway station). The room was somewhat small (to be expected for a hotel in this locations) but very comfortable and clean. The staff is friendly and helpful. Numerous restaurants and pubs are in short walking distance. As to be expected for a hotel in London there is a charge for many amenities. The first 30 minutes of wireless access are free, after that there is a charge. However, 3 computers with free internet access are available in the business center which is a nice touch. We were very happy with our stay.

Good location, clean comfortable room

I just stayed for one night as I had a meeting about 10 minutes walk from the hotel. The room was a good size and very clean and comfortable. It had a nice en suite bathroom. I would certainly use the hotel again.

Good tourist hotel in central location

I always stay at this hotel while in London. The rooms are clean and housekeeping service is accommodating. Hotel staff is pleasant and helpful. Also - You can request guaranteed early check-in between 9am and 2pm for £30 pounds, arranged to pay on arrival through emailing the hotel directly.

Very convenient location for museums, Parliament, Westminster Abbey and Buckingham Palace. Also for plays and opera, the location is a 10-minute walk from most theatres which avoids a scramble for a taxi when they all let out around the same time. 5-minute walk to Covent Garden and 10-minute walk to Leicester Square with numerous film theatres and restaurants.
