London Heathrow Sofitel

Hotel convenient to LHR Terminal Five. Short walk and well identified. Beautiful hotel and very quiet and peaceful.....no ... aircraft noise at all. Restaurant prices are a bit high though. Breakfast buffet is not cheap, but there is Roux restaurant for alacarte service. Dining service was outstanding and food typical English bland. Easy access to the tube into London or the Heathrow Express Train from Terminal Five. Transfer between terminals on train is free and well identified with directions etc. One of the best of many Sofitel chain we have stayed at!

A 100 yard elevated walkway connects Sofitel with Terminal 5. The hotel's architectural design is modernistically stunning - ... most unexpectected in an airport hotel. The soundproofing is faultless - absolutely no noise from aircraft altho a runway is quite close. An excellent guest room card electronic ecurity system controls the elevator and guest room access. The two restaurants are upscale but pricing is reasonable - including wine prices - and service is personal and excellent. A featured 'Tea Room' serves teas from all over the world - with prices for teas and food rather high. The property works best for those arriving & departing from Heathrow Terminal 5. To get to other terminals requires using the 'Hoppit' shuttle or a taxi. Taxi fare from Sofitel to Terminal 4 (the worst terminal to access) was 15 pounds! Ouch! Unless burdened by luggage use the shuttle! The concierge will load your baggage onto a trolley. Push it the 100 yards to the entrance to Terminal 5 -an elevator is right there. Take it down one floor to the 'Hoppit' shuttle stop.

Best option for an overnight at Heathrow
Chris, Old Travel Hare Aug 17, 2009
This time returning to San Francisco from a major European city, my husband and I decided to break the marathon into two ... halves and couldn't have been happier with our choice of staying at the Sofitel at Heathrow. Although we arrived at and left from Terminal 1, and the Sofitel is at Terminal 5, it was more convenient than staying at one of the other hotels at Heathrow all of which require the use of the "Hotel Hoppa", a shuttle bus service we had used before. Staying at the Sofitel, we were able to use part of the London public transport service (free of charge) to get to Terminal 5, and then walk to the hotel. The only quibble I would have with the hotel is the price of food and drink, which, by American standards, seemed very high.

We arrived in the afternoon and spent the night. Everything went smoothly, the proxmity to Terminal 5 is amazing. It was ... very nice to have luggage carts at the entrance, after a long flight even carry on luggage gets heavy. We were greeted warmly at the reception desk. Overall a really relaxing stay!

Quiet, luxurious and convenient
Ray May 11, 2009
This hotel is an ideal choice for travellers who need to be at Heathrow airport in the morning for an early flight (like I ... did, arriving late one night from Ireland, and flying out the next morning for the US). It is located right at Terminal 5 and there is convenient free train service every 10 minutes or so linking it to the other terminals. It's a bit of a hike down long corridors from the hotel to the terminal and where you catch the train, though, so I'd recommend using the free trolleys all the way to make it less hard on your arms and back wheeling luggage. The rooms are luxurious, modern and tasteful, with soothing decor and very spacious bathrooms. I arrived late at night, checked in quickly and got a great night sleep. I'd definitely stay again.

Tired traveler May 8, 2009
We could trolley our luggage right to the desk from the airport and back again in the morning with a short walk. The staff ... was very helpful and the rooms were very comfortable - great beds. It was easy to get back into London on the train. We never heard a plane while in the hotel. The only tiny problem was actually finding the signs for the hotel when we got into the Terminal. Had to ask.

A Great, Less Expensive Way to Do London
Karen May 3, 2009
We had arrived on a trans-atlantic cruise and wanted to spend a few days in London before flying out. The Sofitel was ... perfect, right across from the airport from which we were flying out. We went in to London on the underground for under $ 10 per person for a day pass. THe trains work in to the night so you can do a full day in London. Eveyone at the hotel was most friendly and helpful.

Great Location, Excellent Comfort
Mark Dec 29, 2008
The Sofitel London Heathrow was exceptionally comfortable. Even though I could see planes from my window, I did not hear a ... thing from outside. It's an easy 5 minute walk from Terminal 5 arrivals and check-in was quick and strightforward. I was there only one night and almost wished I had more time to enjoy it. If you only have a 1 or 2 night stay in London, this is a fantastic option, instead of having to travel back to the airport from central London.
