Only overnighted but could have stayed longer

We loved the location of this hotel... 1/2 block from the Regent Park tube station; easy 1/2 hour walk to Picadilly Circus and Trafalgar Square and 15 minute tube ride to London Eye Square. The room was small, despite being an upgrade, and the bed was only a double - unusual in this day and age to find - but it was very comfortable and well appointed. The restaurant was superb; the buffet breakfast worth every penny and the (check-in) staff were excellent. The morning reception people weren't quite as pleasant, but they weren't rude either. Would definitely stay again, and hopefully for longer next time!

New Year's Eve 2013

When I booked for New Year's Eve I had as always no expectations, I drove down to London, the hotel was so easy to find perfectly located just off the main route into the city off A40. When I pulled up in front of the hotel my jaw dropped with pleasant surprise, all lit up and tastefully decorated for the festive season an awesome site I was amazed. The reception is beautiful the staff friendly and welcoming I couldn't have been happier. My room was lovely, every time I approached a team member for advice they were happy friendly and well informed. Answering every question I asked. I only found perfection through our it was an absolute pleasure to stay. The hotel made my New Year's Eve even better. Stephen Wellings

Good location, the older rooms are very tired

The staff was excellent and friendly. The location of the hotel and the proximity of the tube stops made it very easy to get around. The main drawback of the place was the cleanliness of the room and the lack of working outlets

Excellent location, friendly staff

Friends and I stayed here for eight nights in two "classic" rooms and enjoyed our stay. It's very conveniently located within short walking distance of a few tube stations, and under a half-hour walk from the Euston and St, Pancras train stations, British Museum, British Library, Oxford St. and Marylebone High St. shopping areas, etc. Unfortunately, a couple of very noisy men were in the room next to us, with several guests, and started partying loudly after 11p.m. for 3 or 4 nights in a row. Only a door was between the "classic" rooms so we heard everything! Perhaps we should have phoned the desk, but didn't because we wanted no retaliatory nastiness from the men. There is no sound-proofing between these rooms, as one would expect in a 4-star hotel room. The hotel should have placed the four of us in the adjoining rooms, and this would have helped somewhat; however even the friends on the other side of us heard the noise generated by these men!! For this reason, I rate the hotel 4 instead of 5 stars. Everything else about our stay was positive... Breakfast was excellent, a generous buffet with many choices including an omelet station, cappuccinos and lattes if requested. The staff everywhere were very pleasant and helpful. Rooms, while small, were nicely appointed!

October 2013 Stay

Nice hotel, Wonderful staff, bar, breakfast and restaurant. Very convenient to the Great Portland Street underground station, a Pret a Manger, the Green Man Pub, and Regents Park for walking/jogging/biking. I had a "Superior" room with two "queen" beds. more the size of a single bed. Room was very clean and well appointed. bathroom sink clogged during my stay, the wireless connection is marginal, and not all of the outlets worked at the desk. Overall, worth the stay

Small wonder at Melia White House, London

My friends and I were in London for a Gems of Britain tour by Insight Vacations and we particularly enjoy dining and shopping while in London so being close to Oxford St and Bond St was an important factor in choosing Melia White House. We could conveniently reach the precincts on foot and as it was cool while sunny, we could walk all the way to Piccadilly with stops at Tate Gallery, Green Park and Fortnum & Masons. It was our first time staying at this hotel and the doorman and receptionist made sure we were warmly welcomed. Sadly, one of the rooms we had booked was way too small for my friends but the hotel had a spacious junior suite as an alternative. I would like to compliment Faisal at front desk who gave his all to ensure that the switch was efficiently made. He was a great help throughout our stay for the next few days. The housekeeping staff were also charming and courteously greeted us whenever we passed by. They ensured that our rooms were always clean, fresh and tidied. We all agree that the secure lift system was the best feature in the hotel. It facilitated fast delivery in the safest of ways for the ladies among us. The breakfast spread each morning was delightful. One bug bear was that our door refused us entry twice on our stay and we had to wait for security staff to come to our rescue. But that was solved eventually.

Shopping tip: Short walk from hotel

Shop along Oxford St first before heading for the boutiques at Bond St. Be at Bond St by 3pm at least because you'll be enticed to walk into more stores than you think. The last boutique to close is Burberry's which was open even at 7pm on a Friday evening!

Lacking

Great position for transport, parks and attractions. A free upgrade to a Superior Double was a pleasant surprise, as I was travelling with my Mother who was not well. The room was nice and spacious, very clean, nicely decorated and comfortable, just great when your feeling off. Two things spoilt our stay the food and the staff. Firstly the food was under lights rather than in bain maries; this meant that the food was only lukewarm and hence not very appetising (2 x breakfasts & 1 evening meal); even the tea/coffee was not hot. Also the strange set up with jam & other preserves nowhere near the bread/toast/crossaints was a rather strange choice of setout. The front desk staff where not particulary welcoming, but it was the restaurant staff that took the cake. Clumsy, obviously not well trained in how to clear tables; pushy in getting you to have tea/coffee - especially when you had told them that you wanted it after the meal; loudly discussing their work colleagues and private life to all and sundry and generally ignorant of what the restaurant had to offer for the evening meal. Sadly, we will not be returning as the only thing that is really right about the hotel's blurb is that it is in a unique location.
