Great hotel for a great price!
We stayed at the Mad Hatter for two segments of our trip and loved it! Our rooms were spacious and clean. The bed was comfortable. It is in a city, so you hear street noise, but you'll hear that at any hotel you stay in while visiting a big city. The pub was great, they had the best fish and chips we had throughout our trip! The location was excellent. A very short walk to many destinations like The Globe, The Eye, river boat tours, among others. There are also two tube stops within a short distance to the hotel. We plan on recommending this hotel to friends and family for future trips to London and would stay there if we return.

This is a small modern hotel in a great location - almost within direct sight of St Pauls. The staff were very helpful, the pub on the ground floor was cosy and spotless. It is a great place for a weekend stay.

Excellent hotel should you need
Excellent hotel should you need to be in the South Bank area. Receptionist couldn't have been more helpful, 6 x real ales on sale(!), food good, room good. Just avoid the grumpy night porter who seemed to think it wasn't his job to do anything and you'll love it.

Very much enjoyed the stay and
Very much enjoyed the stay and would stay again. The people were lovely and helpful (we got stranded for an additional night due to the ash cloud and they were extremely helpful), the rooms were large for UK standards and very clean, and the pub on the main floor was fabulous, and the food very good. The breakfast was great as well - huge and tasty. I plan on staying there the next time I am in London.

Your otherwise fantastic hotel
Your otherwise fantastic hotel would benefit from having airconditioning installed in the bedrooms. OK - it's not your responsibility that London was extremely hot this weekend, but still!

Friendly hotel
Very friendly hotel that was close to the West End, Southbank and City parts of London. We also liked having a pub right in the hotel. It isn't a fancy place but is priced fairly and offers good value.

Nice stay
It was a pleasant hotel. Breakfast was included for the weekend stay and was fine. It would have been expensive otherwise. The hotel is relatively close to the Southwark station on the Jubilee line, but further from the Waterloo stop (it would have been good to know this before we arrived with all our luggage). The hotel is close to theaters and restaurants along the south bank river walk.

Time-saving tip:
Short walk from hotel
Use Southwark station on the tube. It was easy to get around town on the tube from this location.
