Nice hotel, good location

We stayed in this hotel 4 nights on January 15. After I read the excellent reviews a was a little disappointed. But when I am thinking about it, overall , it was a good hotel. His location is good. It's a one stop of Central Line from Marble Arch which is Oxford street.you can also walk to Oxford st. It takes about 10 minutes . You can walk in Hyde park and it's better. The lobby is big and comfy. The rooms look old and the bathroom is small. It was ok for sleeping, and we could make a brake at noon because of its place. One day we returned to our room and saw they forgot to clean it! I called the reception and they sent a chambermaid immediately .they didn't change the sheets all the 4 nights. There is coffee and tea in the room, and the heat what great.

Great Place

Clean, sunny, fresh room, though expensive and smaller than what we would expect in the US. Friendly staff. Convenient location with Lancaster Gate tube station around the corner. If you have luggage, get off at Lancaster gate and not Paddington. Paddington station, eateries and pubs close by at a walking distance. Post office on Praed Street (walking distance from Paddington) for best currency exchange rate.

Get a London Pass for sight seeing. Buy your travel card for the day separately based on the zones you would like to visit that day. The more zones you want to visit the more expensive the day ticket. Peak hour ends at 9:30 am, but tourists flock to the ticket machines at that time so there are long lines. Get your ticket early during 'Peak hours' (between 4:30 am - 9:00 am). There are no long lines then as working folks have their tickets already.

I can't reccomend it

The superior room that we had at the Lancaster was a fairly average-sized hotel room for the price. When we asked for two beds, though, we were given only one. The bed itself was about as uncomfortable as it could have been (I could feel the springs digging into my back). You cannot get the news or weather on the television. Internet access - for which we paid seventeen pounds a day for!! - was an absolute joke! We kept on getting kicked off and the signal was weak when we were connected. The employee in the Business Office was not as friendly as I would have expected at a hotel of this supposed caliber. The only really exceptional aspect was the room service. Those staff members were always friendly, and the food was divine! My suggestion: go to lunch or dinner at one of the hotel restaurants, but don't stay the night.

Lancaster London

The room mini bar refrigerator was broken and they said they would fix it, but never did. Concierge gave us wrong information about events like changing of the guard. We went there and he had the days wrong. Concierge was not helpful in securing tickets to plays. We asked him to check when we arrived if tickets were available for any nights for our stay, but he only checked for that day we asked. They said they would check again, but we never heard from them again, so I doubt they did. They wanted about $30 dollar per ticket service charge for tickets to another play that we finally were able to get easily ourselves. We booked a tour but had to pay cash because they wouldn't charge it to the room and their credit card machine was broken. The room was clean, but they didn't always replenish used coffee or all the towels, but did clean daily. Nice room and bathroom overall. There was easy access to the Underground and Paddington Station. Not much of interest in terms of shops or restaurants near the hotel. Nice neighborhood overall. The staff was generally very pleasant and friendly.
