Luxurious 1st time stay in London

Lancaster had a great location and wonderful imminities. Restaurants within 3 blocks and the metro just seconds away. Only complaint? For in-room Internet, you had to pay 17lbs p/day. Otherwise, fantastic.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

Don't use "big bus tours" (hop on, hop off), use the other bus company called "Londons original" (?), they had 3 times the number of busses and were never late at a stop.

Convenient with good views

We spent four days in London and easily walked or used the underground from the hotel to see our chosen sights. On one day we walked across the street from the hotel through Hyde Park with a stop at the restaurant for scones to the Geographic Society and the Victoria and Albert Museum then on to Harrods and back through the park. On another day we walked to Buckingham Palace and on to Westminster. The underground beside the hotel took us to all points of our interest, such as the British Museum, in the city. The room had lots of light and a great view of the park, a reasonably sized room for London and tea, coffee and cookies every day. The bathroom is small, marbled and functional. I would have liked more space. Service is friendly and helpful. Each guest can have 15 minutes free on one of the two computers in the business center or pay a hefty fee for in-room wifi.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Go to The Swan, a 200-plus year old pub just 50-ft from the hotel. Great lunch sandwiches. Pretty good dinner entrees too. Inexpensive and friendly staff. However, not a great selection of local brews.

Great

We arrived distressed because of a lost passport. The staff began immediately to assist us, checked us into our room early, the concierce began to call the airport, US Embassy, etc. We were assisted with directions which were easy to follow when we left the hotel to sightsee on our own. We did find the price of the breakfast to be high. The room was nice but the a/c was faulty and it was hot. Attempts were made to correct it. Housekeeping did a great job every day. The Thai restaurant was nice in the hotel. The tube station was close as well as the bus stops.

Breakfast was served at a little French cafe just across the street from the hotel. There was a pub, Italian Restaurant, and Thai restaurant within walking distance of the hotel. Food was good there also.

Great Spot

Hotel is in a great location with easy access to Paddington and across from the park. Staff was nice but the front-end systems need to be updated to allow them to do their work faster.

Nice hotel nice location

Was able to cover the town very well with its location directly over a tube station. Near enough to Paddington Train station to wheel our luggage to the hotel which made for a great trip from Heathrow. The one HUGE downer for us was the $25/day internet fee...ridiculous.

Lancaster London

We stayed for over a week because of an Orbitz deal and had a great time. The concierge's were great and very helpful. Housekeeping was great too. We had a great view. the only weird thing in the rooms was that the bed moved around. But the location was excellent with Hyde Park right across the street and the tube and bus close as well.

Great Hotel, Good Price, Nice Staff

Location kind of far from most popular locations: Big Ben, Tower of London, Buckingham Palace, Westminder Abbey, however, transportation was right outside the hotel, sightseeing tour bus as well as regular buses the locals use and the underground. Also, 5 minute walk to Paddington Station for inexpensive transportation to Heathrow Airport. Walking distance to Marble Arch, Oxford Street, the premeire shoppping district for locals and tourists alike. Great, friendly staff. Room was small but clean and nice--pretty much everything you need. Extra convenience was built in American 110V outlet, so no converter necessary. There is a charge for wirelss use-kinda pricey.

great vacation hotel

After arriving at Paddington, we found that taxis were reluctant to drive to the lancaster as it is only five blocks away. On a sunny afternoon this is not bad but on a rainy day inconvenient. The hotel room was on the tenth floor with a partial view of the park but who cares the room was for sleeping. The deli across the street was convenient and sandwichs better than Harrod's Our vacation was a walking tour of London for oldtimers and did we walk, from the hotel along Bayswater to Princess Diana's playground,Kensington Palace,a big disappointment, the Albert Memorial, fantastic in the sunlight, Albert Hall, the Science Museum, the V and A museum and Harrod's and this was only the first day. Suggestion Buy and Oyster card on the Underground, Staff was helpful and pointed out the routes on handouts. Highlights Take the conducted tour of St Paul's' Ride the tour boat to Greenwich. double up on the British Museum, the National gallery and the V. and A. We had a great time. A vacation we wished would never end.
