Location is it

Overall, average. Here are some things that need work. All rooms should reflect 4 star rating, that's what you pay extra for. We were in 705 and found the room a bit worn and outdated. Carpet was very dirty looking. Bathroom was very small and had mold and cracking paint in the corner of the tub. On the positive the mattress was comfortable, mini bar fridge was nice to use for groceries, location is great for tube use and staff is friendly. Maid service was good except for the one who helped herself to my perfume on the last night. Despite the hotel issues, we had a great time in London.

Great Stay!

Our room was not ready when we arrived, so we got an upgrade to a deluxe room with a view of Hyde Park. It was a very comfortable room. The staff was friendly and helpful. The Island Grill restaurant was great for breakfast. Lounge comfortable and quiet. There are a couple other options for breakfast nearby. The location of the hotel is great, right around the corner from the Lancaster Gate Underground stop. Less than a 10 minute walk from Paddington Station and the pubs around there-Easy access from Heathrow Express.

FANTASTIC experience!

With one small exception, we could not have had a better experience in lodging in London (the wi-fi was the only issue... 17 pounds per day is far too much, but at least they give you 15 free minutes on their business office computers). We were so pleased with our stay... the people couldn't have been nicer, the room was truly amazing, and the location is truly perfect. Thank you for making our stay so pleasant... we'll be back as long as it's affordable as it was this time!

Hidden Gem

You are smack in the middle of it all. I mean the subway is right behind it, you are 5 mins walk from Bayswater, which has superb pubs and restaurants. another 5 to 10 mins walk you are in Nottinghill and Portabella Rd. head the opposite direction and you are walking into the shopping district! OMG i love this place!!! The hotel room itself will be larger than what you normally would get in a big city. Decor is a bit older but heck you are in London, its called History :)

I can't reccomend it

The superior room that we had at the Lancaster was a fairly average-sized hotel room for the price. When we asked for two beds, though, we were given only one. The bed itself was about as uncomfortable as it could have been (I could feel the springs digging into my back). You cannot get the news or weather on the television. Internet access - for which we paid seventeen pounds a day for!! - was an absolute joke! We kept on getting kicked off and the signal was weak when we were connected. The employee in the Business Office was not as friendly as I would have expected at a hotel of this supposed caliber. The only really exceptional aspect was the room service. Those staff members were always friendly, and the food was divine! My suggestion: go to lunch or dinner at one of the hotel restaurants, but don't stay the night.

Wonderful repeat visit to London and the Lancaster London

We had a fabulous time in London! Traveled for special occasion. Daughter's first visit and mom's 10th! The hotel's great location led to easy access to sights. The hotel staff, especially the concierge staff was fantastic! Answered all questions easily, accurately and with a smile on their face. Gave wonderful, easy alternative transportation advise when needed - because of construction diversion.

average, not worth 4 stars

We had a nice stay, but the room was nothing special and especially the bathroom was dissapointing. It was very very small, and definitely not 4-star quality. The location of the hotel and the staff were absolutely fine, but this hotel needs some work!

A very nice location for ageing people

We enjoyed a relatively roomy room and a nice bathroom. The staff was friendly, but unfortunately we were woken during the first night by a housekeeper who apologized : he had mistaken the room number … The restaurant was all right but there wasn't a big choice for lunch or dinner in the area of the hotel. We had breakfast in Island Grill. The standard continental breakfast was really cheap.

The menu à la carte is quite good and not very expensive. But you must have dinner before 7 pm, afterwards the restaurant is closed.

Great Hotel away from the hustle and bustle

We just returned from our trip to London and the Lancaster London did not disappoint. LOCATION: While it is away from many of the sights in the center of London, the Lancaster Gate tube stop below the hotel made getting to any part of London easily accessible. The hotel sits across the street from Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens which was definitely worth a stroll. ROOM: We had a room on a lower floor which we were told was not part of their recent refurbishment. That being said, the room was updated, clean, and very comfortable. Very nice size by London standards. MISCELLANEOUS: -15 minutes of free internet at the Business Center was a nice amenity to stay connected. - the elevators took FOREVER to stop at our floor (3rd) in the morning. Had no problem taking the stairs but they were difficult to navigate.

Girlfriends first visit

I've been to London over a forty times, and this was the first staying at the Lancaster. I took my girlfriend for her first trip out of the US. Overall we liked the Lancaster, except for the lack of free Wifi (considering how much the room cost), the bed was very hard (after further inspection it was two single beds put together to make a "king"), and the tub was dangerous getting in and out (non-skid strips would be advisable in the tub). The amenities were fine, but you have to pay for ice.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

The Bathhurst Deli less than 100 yds/meters walk straight across from the front door serves a great English Breakfast for half the cost as the hotel. Sandwiches were very reasonable and tasty.
