Traveling from Heathrow airport to hotel was easy which only cost 4 pounds per adult on way on piccadilly train. Cabs are quite expensive in london.

FOR SOUVENIRS , GO TO THE PICCADILLY SQUARE. FOR HIGH END SHOPPING , GO TO BOND STREET. THEY'RE ALL ABOUT 5 TO 10 MINUTE WALK FROM THE HOTEL. FOR FINE DINING , THE RITZ HOTEL IS JUST A 1-2 MINUTE WALK. FOR FAST FOOD , MARKS & SPENCER IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER. THEY OFFER NEWLY BAKED CROISSANTS, DANISHES ETC. GOOD COFFEE TOO. THERE'S MCDONALD, BURGER KING, KFC AT PICCADILLY SQUARE. THE TUBE/UNDERGROUND IS ALSO JUST AROUND THE CORNER. GREAT LOCATION!

THE BEST FEATURE OF THIS HOTEL IS LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION. IT WAS SO CLOSE TO EVERYTHING, FOOD, SHOPPING, SIGHTSEEING. ... THE ROOM WAS SPACIOUS AND CLEAN. THE ONLY THING I DIDN'T LIKE WAS THE TAP IN THE SINK. YOU CAN ONLY HAVE EITHER HOT OR COLD WATER, NOT BOTH AT THE SAME TIME. OTHER THAN THAT, OUR STAY WAS PERFECT. THE CONCIERGE STAFF ESPECIALLY KEITH WERE ALL VERY HELPFUL.

Hotel is located half block from the Ritz and about 4 or 5 blocks from Buckingham Palace. We spent 7 days there. We spent or ... time sightseeing, for entertainment, and shopping. Staff was helpful but most were not British. Rooms were clean. There were no "bellmen" to carry luggage; there was a doorman there some of the time.

The Holiday Inn LONDON-MAYFAIR was a great choice for our first trip to Europe. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful ... from check in to check out. We arrived exhausted from our overnight flight and the staff arranged for a room as soon as available. The rooms are small and dated by U.S. standards but sufficent. The location is superb! We took the Underground from Heathrow and the station is conveniently located at Green Park Station. The hotel has a bank across the street, small grocery and pharmacy are within one block. All London attractions are easily accessible with Transport For London (TFL) subway and bus stops nearby.

London apparently is fueled by sandwiches, fish and chips. There is a convenient grocery (Sainsbury's) nearby which is packed with locals at lunch time. London restaurants are expensive but pubs offer relatively good and reasonably priced alternatives.

Imagine being within walking distance to Buckingham Palace and seeing the "Changing of the Guard" up close and personal! ... Imagine going to three plays out of six nights--great seats purchased at half price at Leicester Square box office. Imagine having great meals (Indian/Chinese/Pub) at reasonable prices. Imagine seeing the great paintings of the world free of charge at four museums.
Traveler type: Family
See great theatre at half price (buy tickets at Leicester Square!) Go to free museums--we went to Tate and Tate Modern, British Museum and Nat'l Portrait Gallery. Go to a pub--friendly and good food--have a conversation with an "authentic" Englishman. Take a boat ride to Greenwich

Staff was very helpful and courteous. We were there for a week and there were 4 couples in our party but we all seemed to ... have the same experience. The location is fantastic!! You are close to Buckingham Palace, the tube, shopping, etc. Breakfast is a little pricey at $20 per person for buffet (English breakfast) but there are other options within a few steps of the hotel. Excellent experience!!!

The tube is the most efficient way to get around. The fare is very inexpensive and the system is easy to figure out. There are 3 entrances within a half block of the hotel.

The location is ideal for catching the underground or the bus. The concierge was very helpful with tips for getting around ... in the most cost efficient manner. The room we stayed in was newly renovated and gorgeous. My 16 year old daughter fell in love with the king sized bed! Especially since she was jet-lagged from the flight. The bathroom was immaculate and brand-spanking new! Room service was a godsend after a long day of sightseeing. We took in the Tower of London, The Globe Theater, The London Dungeon, had lunch at the OXO building, walked along the Thames. Highly recommend travel passes for transportation around the city. Staff was very friendly and helpful! We needed a 3:45 wake up call to catch our flight home, the automated call came in right on time then the desk clerk called again to make sure we were out of bed. Too much to see, too little time. Awesome mother / daughter trip!
Traveler type: Family
Purchase a travel pass in the underground station at Green Park. Staff there have all the maps and information you need. The underground is extremely convenient and quick. The buses were wonderful and plentiful also. Just make sure you are standing under the correct bus stop. We waited and waited for our bus to come, then discovered we were standing at the wrong stop. The signs list the buses that stop there. A short walk to the next stop with our bus number listed and within minutes we were on our way!

Great if you get a good price
Dan Molina Mar 3, 2009
I was there for a series of business meetings. I'd spent a lot of time in London before but had never been to this hotel. I ... was delighted to discover on arrival that it's in a perfect location in Mayfair, right across from the Ritz, near the big parks, and all neighborhood's eateries and shops. The staff was excellent; I asked if they could clear out the mini-bar so I could stock juices and things from the nearby grocery store, and this was done quickly. One of the two elevators was in maintenance and this caused delays, but not a big deal. I tried to stay here again two weeks later but the price had gone up by about 80 dollars a night. No fitness center. I could not get the in-house high speed internet to work, so I just relied on my AT&T wireless. Great stay when I could afford it.
Traveler type: Business
The hotel restaurant is probably fine, but I only had one okay English breakfast buffet there. There are really interesting and affordable places within a couple hundred yards of the hotel. I had two delightful open-air breakfasts (even in January -- there were heaters) of smoked salmon and scrambled eggs for about half the price of the hotel buffet.

The underground station is accross the street and was amazingly easy to use. Green Park station is only a few stations away ... from most major attractions. The staff was friendly, very helpful and professional. Ask about late check out. I was able to check out at 2:PM free of any extra charge. Internet access is quite expensive. The amount of money I pay for internet access for one month is what they charged me for one day of use. I only used it for a few minutes. My stay would have been better if the price of the room included internet access for the entire stay. The room size is small for a family of four. The drains could use long overdue maintenance.
