Lovely and convenient place - only one problem
Our double room wasn't available upon our midnight arrival, so we had two single rooms the first night. In a generous gesture on the hotel's part, we received a (hearty) complimentary breakfast every morning. The location is fantastic, the rooms clean, the beds firm, and the building gorgeously refurbished on the ground floor. The only negative is that the rooms are so small that it's difficult for two people to move around at once in a double room. I know that's typical for London hotels, but I was a little surprised this qualifies as a "four-star" hotel.

Cross the street and stroll around Kensington Park & Hyde Park. On Sunday, don't miss the always entertaining Speakers' Corner, the traditional site for anyone to speak about anything.

Great value for money
The room was a little small and didn't have the greatest amenities, but who's in a room when you're visiting London? Great location, very close to public transport.

Very good value for money
British hotels aren't known for their size, but when you're away on holiday you don't really want to spend your time in a hotel when you have a wonderful city to explore. Within close walking distance to two Underground stations and a bus stop, accessibility to the city is very high. Some nice places to eat nearby, too. Great value for money.

Short walk from hotel
Buy an Oyster card so you can use the public transport system. There's pretty much no place in the city that's not within a few minutes walk from public transport.

Gave us a reason to see more of London
The hotel looked promising, with beautiful woodwork in the lobby and a spectacular location, but some key things fell a bit short. All in all it was an average stay, but I would look for a better hotel the next time around. The room was clean and cozy. Nice after a long flight. Our room looked out into an alley, but that didn't bother us. The hotel bar was downright bad.

Historic hotel in a great location
During Edwardian times, Lillie Langtry, mistress of King Edward VII, frequently performed in the in-house theatre of this historic hotel. That theatre is now a bar, and the other public rooms of this hotel are all beautifully restored to their 19th century appearance. The rooms are modern and well-appointed, and clean and comfortable. I stayed in a Deluxe Double on the fifth floor and it was no smaller than any American hotel of the same value. It even had a terrace! The hotel is located across the street from Kensington Gardens, and just moments from both the Queensway and Bayswater tube stations, as well as the restaurants and shops on Queensway. It is also a 5 minute walk to Kensington Palace and a 15 minute walk to the Portobello Road Market. Paddington Station is nearby, where you can easily reach Heathrow within minutes. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Grand Royale Hyde Park and loved its old world feel.

Short walk from hotel
The Black Lion pub on Bayswater Road (facing the park) between Inverness Terrace and Queensway was quite good for traditional English pub food.

Weekend in London
The hotel was fine; good location, close to two tube stations/lines, close to Hyde Park. The room was tiny but otherwise a very nice experience.

Nice Location but Americans Beware of Tiny Rooms
Rooms are small, 'Superior Single' is literally a twin bed in a room not much bigger than the bed with a bathroom that is about 5' square. However, i have heard that hotels in Europe tend to be smaller. That being said, hotel is nice, staff is friendly and knowledgeable, the neighborhood has a bunch of pubs and restaurants, and the hotel is spitting distance from two tube stops, a number of bus stops and Hyde park. All in All its a great place that's not too far from central London. Just watch for the small rooms.

Great location, great value!
I found this little gem of a hotel and didn't book right away because I wasn't sure I could trust the 4-star rating with the 3-star price! Then Orbits ran a 20% off deal and I jumped on it. We were so pleased with the property. It was perfect! Although not overly spacious, our room was very clean, DID have room for 2 adults and 2 bags comfortably, and did have a computer in the sitting room with free internet access. Staff were helpful and friendly, and whenever we needed extra towels or other amenities, they were prompt and gracious in providing those for us. Would definitely stay at the Grand Royale Hyde Park again! Hint: On arriving in London, Take the Heathrow Express in from the airport. It will drop you at Paddington Station... and a taxi to the hotel was 8 pounds. Or, if you're already knowledgeable about the underground, it's just a short walk from the Queensway stop. There's a pub directly around the corner that has wonderful food and drink, and great service. Spend some time relaxing in Kensington Gardens, just across the street. Also, turn right coming out of the hotel and right again on Bayswater, then continue 5-6 blocks to Paul Rhodes Bakery. Amazing fresh pastries and delicious coffee or tea for breakfast. Great value and a wonderful way to start the day. (It's very near the Notting Hill Gate station...)
