Facilities in the room were good.

Facilities in the room were good. There was all you need in the kitchen: micro-wave; dish-washer; water kettle, all necessary plates and etc. TESCO is just down the street if you need to get some food. Metro is also very close. Despite our windows were to the street, it has no been noisy. When booking the room there was no option to choose only a double bed, so unfortunately we got a twin room with very funny bed. It was not too comfortable for a couple.

Friendly staff, very clean room.

Friendly staff, very clean room. Free internet worked just fine. Fold out bed was a little bit uncomfortable, but not nearly as bad as others have stated. I slept just fine. I would definitely stay again.

As a single woman staying in this

As a single woman staying in this accommodation, I felt very safe due to the double door system which both required a key. If visiting the City of London, this location could not have been better placed.

Very good for the independent traveler

The "apart hotel" worked very well for us as we are budget travelers and not in need of extra frills. The kitchenette was especially handy, and we used it everyday for at least one meal. Overall we had a pleasant experience on our first trip sightseeing to London from NY. I thought the location was great - convenient, but not in the center of tourist hell. The only major problem was that there were no ventilation fans in kitchen or bathroom (although visible vents), and if we opened the window the street was too noisy (also windows directly across the way). We were in the back of the hotel, and there was a major building under construction within view. If the windows were closed then it was very quiet. Since we are from NYC this type of noise and small room were not out of the realm of our experience. The pullout bed (softish foam) and pillows (soft) were surprisingly comfortable. The ethernet connection did not work at first on my macbook pro, but I just had to restart my comp and the modem.

Nightlife tip: Short walk from hotel

The immediate area around Barbican looks ugly (concrete modern buildings), but very nearby is a very old part of town (on the way to Smithfield Market) that was interesting. Smithfield market has clubs and upscale bars, and is very similar the the Meatpacking district in Manhattan. Tesco is right by Barbican station and open till 11pm, and there is a sandwich shop open 24hrs (!) on St Johns Ln. NYers will appreciate this!

Budget Room inthe center of London

I liked the hotel even with the small room. The fold out bed was surprisingly comfortable. I was dismayed when they said that they only cleaned the room once a week. Even with that knowledge, I would return .. and plan accordingly.

Time-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Know the tube and bus routes so that it is easy to return if the weather is inclement.
