Great hotel choice

We stayed at Base2Stay Kensington for two nights in London following a British Isles cruise. It was exactly what we wanted in a hotel -- clean, quiet, modern and in a very convenient location, just 1.5 blocks from the Earl's Court tube station. The staff was friendly and helpful and we took advantage of the hotel's discounts at neighborhood restaurants. Would definitely stay there again and recommend it to others.

Terrific

Excelllent lodging for a quick trip to London. Hotel has all the amenities needed, no wasted space with restaurants, etc. Very close to Earl's Court Tube, with direct and speedy access to all of London. Helpful staff, cater to your needs without being obtrusive or invasive. Small rooms, like all over London, but sparkling bathrooms and all the electronics (WiFi, etc.) that you need. Good value, would readily stay there again.

Plan your day using Transport for London (TFL's) excellent mapping of Tube routes, and pay particular attention to Underground closings and re-routings (certainly on the weekend) to maximize your time in London.

Top marks for Base2stay

Being so close to Earl's Court Underground was a definite plus, when dragging cases and backpacks. Our first stay was in a smaller lower floor which was fine, but the second stay in a larger upper room was even better, and the same great staff were there both times. The rooms were modern good facilities for our own breakfast. the service was excellent. I have no hesitation in recommending Base2stay for a great base to stay

Compact room with 'no frills'

Compact room with 'no frills' but everything we needed. Kitchen facilities were great. It was good to have free internet access. Very clean and modern. Comfortable bed and quiet room. Great area and close to Earl's Court Station (including access from the airport). Would definitely stay here again and recommend to others.

Excellent!

We used this hotel for a two-night stay in London, and found it met our needs perfectly: it was very clean, quite quiet (we were on a lower floof--L7, and had some delivery noise outside in the parking lot, but at a reasonable hour), and very comfortable! We loved the microwave, fridge, kettle, dishes, and cutlery, and appreciated the in-room safe. The bathroom was spacious and made good use of space. The staff, multi-lingual, were competent, friendly and sfficient. The location was ideal--just a block and a half from Sainsburys grocery store, and within easy walking distance to the Gloucester Road tube station. Highly recommended!

Price could have been better for the val

I was only there for one night, which is why I booked Base 2 Stay. The location was a huge positive - it is very close to the Earl's Court train station and a main street in Kensington. It's tucked away though so it doesn't feel as busy as the main streets...so location is a huge plus. The downside was what you get for your money- I may have gotten a bad rate, but I just felt it was not worth $160 American dollars. The rooms are small, there are no frills. This is fine if that is what you are paying for but I felt I paid for more than I received. Base 2 Stay is the classy version of a budget hotel like Best Western. I would stay again but only if the rate was comparable with a budget hotel experience.

Wonderful choice!

We were all so very please with our choice of Base2Stay. The location can't be beat. You are so centrally located at Earl's Court. Very easy access to the Tube, buses, restaurants and grocery. The staff was very helpful with everything we asked of them, including bringing a vacuum to the room for us to use for our vacuum-seal bags to go in our suitcase. Having the kitchenette saved alot of time and money for breakfast. The hotel was spotless, linens were of a very nice quality and virtually no noise. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting London and will surely stay there again. I hope they open worldwide.

Do your research about the Travelcards, London Pass, and Tube routes before going. You can very easily spend several times the amount making your vacation very pricey. There are so many wonderful deals to take advantage of. The 7 day Travelcard is the best thing going! There is everything and anything you would ever want to eat or buy there.

Good location and accommodations

I know London well (used to live there) so I know what I want and got it in this hotel: decent price, location near a tube station, kitchenette, ensuite bathroom, clean, safe, lift. I would have liked a bathtub but just got a shower. I also got a safe which didn't work but they tried to fix it! Staff was polite and helpful.

Great place, great staff, good location

This hotel was just great. I had gone to a conference on the weekend and then shifted over to this hotel after the conference because I wanted to take a week's sightseeing and shopping in London. This hotel is very near Earl's Court tube stop, about a 6 minute walk, and surprisingly quiet. I had no problems with noise, which I am usually quite sensitive to in strange places. Beds were comfortable, staff was friendly and helpful and moved my bags for me to a different room when the flight I was on was cancelled and I had to stay on longer. Wireless comes included with the room, and this, like the mini-kitchens in the rooms, should be taken into consideration when pricing this hotel compared to others in it's price range. Almost NONE of those offer free wireless; many have no wireless at all, only cables. Rooms were very clean with modern decor. The only thing negative I could say is that the shower is a bit peculiar. There's only one swing-out shower door and it runs only half the length of the shower, making showering a bit cold and unpleasant. Also the hot water was not as hot as it should have been all the time, but this could be because my stay occurred during the coldest winter in England in 25 years. They get a pass on this.

Dining tip: In Hotel

The facilities in the rooms are EXCELLENT for reheating leftovers and refrigerating them. This, in itself, can save you a ton of money, as food can be a bit steep in London.
