Abcone Hotel Kensington

Its location is good and close to various tourist locations, including the Underground to get around the city. The staff is friendly and helpful. Free wifi in the lobby. Generally, cleanliness is acceptable, though the stained carpet in the room definitely needs cleaning. Based on London prices, the hotel is a bit higher priced than comparable others.

Ok, the good first: The location is great-right near 3 underground lines, a market, post office and restaurants. But then again, there are a hundred other hotels in the same area. The bad: 1. The staff. They never knew the answer to any of our questions and didn't really try to help us. They couldn't recommend any restaurants, didn't know directions, etc. The lobby was also often unattended and we had to wait for help. When we asked for an extra pillow they looked at us funny. No one we dealt with ever seemed to know what they were doing. 2. Cleanliness: The room looked clean but I question how thoroughly it was really cleaned. One night, we came back and I found the glasses and coffee cups in the bathroom which makes me think they just rinsed them out instead of replacing them. (kudos thought for being green and not using disposable.) 3. When I asked to put things in the safe I was told it wasn't a good idea because the whole staff had access to it. Had to carry things around all the time. 4. Not very secure: I came back very late one night and the front door was wide open and the lobby unattended. It seems to be a safe neighborhood but I thought this was unacceptable. 5. Amenities: The tv was 8 inches and had only 4 fuzzy channels. Also, there was no clock in the room, though the wake up calls were on time. 6. We took an overnight trip and asked if we could leave two of our bags since we were coming back. At check in we were told this was fine and I reconfirmed the night before we left. That morning when I went to drop them off, I was told there was a 5 pound charge per bag (they finally reduced it to 5 pounds total.) What kind of customer service is this? This was not the most expensive hotel but it wasn't cheapest either. There are many other hotels in the area. I will be staying elsewhere next time and so should you.

Was pleased with the location to all the sites and the tube station, buses. Walking distance to shops and dining. Travel agency had a pick up location across the street. Clean room and everything needed for a great stay. Only thing is that I was told by hotel cleaning lady that no wash cloths available because it was not a four star hotel....glad I took some with me. Only bad problem was the water smelled funny at times.

Great location and value -- room was a bit hot and almost shabby but perfectly clean and by far the best value I could find in Kensington. Fast internet connection and <5 minute walk to Glouster Rd. tube stop. Highly recommended.

Location is great near the intersection of Cromwell Rd and Gloucester Rd close to Gloucester Tube station.Appearance from outside is nice. The inside is reasonable. Room size is moderate.What is uniquely outstanding about this hotel is staff and manager "[...]". They extended every type of help whether related to hotel services or general information about the area. We arrived in the middle of Wimbledon Tennis tournament while every hotel in London was booked. They still treated us as very valued customers.Examples:1- We arrived just after 11 AM after a red-eye flight. Check-in time is 3:00 PM. The receptionist saw that our kids were tired so he told the room service to drop everything and get our room ready. He handed us the keys by noon. 2- We had to leave London for a couple of days and we didn't want to take all of our luggage with us. The manager offered to store our left luggage for free even though we were no longer their guests.If I'm going to London again, I will reserve at Abcone again.

Lovely little hotel, close walk from tube line from Heathrow. I would definitely stay here again, especially if travelling alone.

The location was excellent: a quiet street with a park view close to a metro station. The facilities were not too great. The television didn't work, and we had great problems with the wireless internet connection. The beds were comfortable, but the blankets in the beds were really worn out. The room was clean and well kept, however. The breakfast was modest, to say the least.

Good location - room itself wasnt the best. Down in the dungeon. Woken up at 3am by laundry delivery.
