Dirty, people not friendly, room are not well prepared.

It's a nightmare!!!!!! Never ever again. Even they paid me to live here. Difficult to find it ...going round and round only see that Gala casino sign broad.... At last asking people on the street then found the entrance. We are a family with 2 boys, 1 yr old and 4 years old boy. We already noticed that we need a late checked in when we booked. We arrived at around 9pm, no one in front desk. When the staff comes out , is not welcoming at all, seems like not very happy that we came that late. When I first go into the room, the first impression is just not good. Lights are too soft, feels like things are dated. The main concern is dirty. I think they didn't vacuum clean enough on carpets. Pillows got blood dried....horrible. Horrible horrible. The sofa bed are toooo dirty to sleep on. Got so much stains on the spare bed which is hidden under the sofa... That is just tooo dirty for my baby to sleep on. Another thing is when I booked I already told them we need extra bed. But they are not prepared at all. No extra blankets, they got 2extra pillows on the shelf. But there are no pillow cases. And that pillow has got dried blood on .... That's was absolutely horrific. And I have to go to the front desk to ask for pillow cases and blankets and a sheet to cover that dirty sofa bed. And I have to took it upstairs that lots of things myself, and do all the bedding myself. What a service is this? I have never experienced anything like this before. Ar.. Also there are things broken. The toilets locked, oh my god ....I have locked inside and so difficult to get me out. The handle should pull down and to open the door... I pull and pull , i can't open it. I was trapped. It took so long for me to get out. I have to put something in the latch to stop it pop out. I case my kids locked inside. And the bathroom hot water control. It is broken, cannot turn to adjust the water temperature. Got a hole on the tap, no where can push it for hotter or cooler. How can that be? Always stuck on 38 degree, I want a bit cooler for my kids, but I can't. Too noisy too. Even window are shut, still hear the traffic. That's all.. Never came back again......

Excellent Location, Excellent Staff

Its a Travelodge, fairly basic but in a great location next door to Highcross Shopping Centre, Nandos, wagamma, John Lewis, Cinema etc all within a minutes walk. Would have no hesitation in recommending. Parking is £4.50 per night at same car park that Holiday Inn charge £10 per night for

Clean, basic but noisy

I chose this hotel because it was close in and economical. It offered great access to the downtown as well as the Jewry Wall and Abbey Park, etc. The problem was the noise. The hotel is located close to the Royal Infirmary and a police station and all emergencies come by this hotel. Terrible location, from that point of view. I work in Times Square, NY, and this hotel had almost as many sirens as Times Square. In addition, there was no air conditioning, so the window was open, even worse. I was given a handicapped access room, which is fine with me (I am not handicapped). It had weird bathtub faucets that were hard to operate. The toilet ran continuously if you didn’t shut it off right. Internet was extra, breakfast was extra and they did not have a UK/US plug adapter. They really should provide free Internet and they should have plug adapters. They knew nothing about the trains for the next leg of my trip, but I was able to get that info from the tourist center not too far away. If I had known about the noise, I would have paid $30 a night more for a better location.

Sightseeing tip: Long walk from hotel

The Abbey Pumping Station steam engine operates about 4-5 times a year, for only a couple hours (usually on Sundays, I think) and it is a rare priveledge to see it operate. It is one of the largest and oldest steam engines in the world (3 stories tall). If you can coordinate your travel to Leicester with the dates they operate the engine you will enjoy a special treat.
