Days Hotel Gatwick

The Skylane, LONDON GATWICK was the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. The blankets had nasty stains and crusty stuff on them. The sheets were clean. The carpet was filthy. Breakfast was included but the cook didn't show up so we got cold cereal.

Good, clean, quiet.

The building, furniture in the room and carpet are pretty old but overall the room is kept quite clean, especially the bathroom, toilet, bathtub and basin are old but kept very clean, soft and very white towels provided. We are quite happy with our stay at this hotel. However we find that there is nothing around the hotel that we can do a little shopping, all we found were some gas stations on a busy street. We were very satisfied with the free shuttle service to and from the airport, very efficient. We only stayed one night to catch a plane the next morning.

Needed a nice clean one night bedroom after a cruise on the Queen Mary 2 cruise as the flight home was the next AM. The room looked lika an Army barracks, cheap furniture, the floors and bathroom dirty, the beds looked like cots, the TV remote was inoperative and there was no air conditioning. We had to put up a deposit to get a fan that was filthy with lint and dust. My wife was so disgusted that she refused to use the shower and slept in her traveling cloths on top of the bed linen. The resturant was part of the bar or tavern and the smoke was terrible. They did have a NO Smoking Area that's as smart and practical as a No P Area in a swimming pool. The hot breakfast pert was also a bummer. The cook was not scheduled to be on duty until 6:30 making it impossible to be at tha airport 2 hours before to check in for an 8:55 departure. The shuttle service was good and the first driver tried to warn us about the hotel.
