Set just outside Guildford in the Heart of the Outstandingly Beautiful Surrey Hills, yet only 55 minutes from central London and close to the M25, this hotel is located in Idyllic surroundings and is near to many attractions. The Hurtwood Inn Hotel, standing in the heart of 'the Perfect English Village' of Peaslake since 1920 is located in absolutely beautiful surroundings and is ideally placed for guests to be able to explore many attractions like Vineyards, National Trust properties and the historic city of Guildford or take the short drive to Central London. Originally built on the site of 2 cottages so the locals 'had somewhere to buy beer', the hotel takes its name from the 'Whortleberries' or 'Hurts' which grow locally in the Village on nearby Pitch hill, the site of one of the village's Scenic walks. The hotels location makes it ideal for guests to visit many attractions in the immediate area or slightly further afield in Dorking or Guildford. Leith Hill Tower, which is the south of England's highest point offers guests some of the most spectacular breathtaking views of the english countryside. Polesden Lacey is also close by, this National Trust property is a stately home where King George VI and the Queen mother spent their honeymoon. Nearby is another National Trust property, Clandon Park, home to the Queen's Royal Surrey regiment Museum, both are sites worth seeing. Minutes away in the village of Dorking is England's largest Vineyard, Denbies. Makers of fine english wines, they operate tours around the vineyards and have exhibition galleries and a fine restaurant. Dorking is also home to the UK's first Country Park, Box Hill owned by the National Trust and designated a site of special scientific interest because of the rare orchids growing there in the summer. A little further away is the historic town of Guildford, dating back to Saxon times. Home to several Museums, Gardens and tourist attractions like Guildford castle and Abbot's Hospital, the town has lots to offer for guests to see and do in addition to the fabulous shopping. Please note, Dogs are accepted in Annex Suite guest rooms on request. Dogs are also permitted in the bar but no other public areas.
