Overnight stay

Reception was welcoming and check in went smoothly. We wanted a cocktail before dinner but couldn't get a seat in the bar. Wasn't too impressed with that. We were directed to 'Georges bar' at the side of the hotel. Not that nice really but ok if you want a pool table and TV. We ate in the hotel. We waited quite a while for our order to come and I'd say it was average. Our room was very cold due to a vent in the window. Apart from that I'd say our 'standard room' was lovely and good value for money. Experienced a little noise from the train station in the morning but not too bad considering the location of the hotel you have to expect a degree of noise. Location is great for shopping, pubs, restaurants, theatres and the Hydro/SECC is just a short train journey away. Hotel was spotless and staff were pleasant. I would stay again.

In need of updating

Very good staff and a great central Glasgow location but the the bedrooms and corridors in need of an upgrade, certainly even a paint job in the corridors would freshen the hotel up. Not a patch on how this hotel used to be .

Great location, old building

The hotel was undergoing renovations so the front was covered with scaffolding. Our room was located on the 1st floor in the back so it faced the train station. This made for a surreal, not unpleasant view, but unpleasant train (and Burger King) odors when the windows were open. However we did have access to the ScotRail free wifi, even though you had to be near the window (but it saved us 5 pounds/day on the hotel's wifi, which appeared to have maxed out on users one morning anyway). The room was comfortable overall, if not a little warm with the down bedding, but the bed pillows were like sleeping on rocks. Great deal considering the ideal location and attractive hotel decor (the room decor was a bit worn, but not unattractive). Remarkably quiet with regard to other guests next door/across the hall. Pleasant staff.

Lovely hotel. Great location.

Lovely room . Huge bathroom. Friendly staff. Only problem was we were allocated a double room instead of twin. It was quickly changed but the early wake up call they wrote down on check in did not materialise and I am guessing the occupants of our original room received it .Could have been bad except our alarm woke us luckily.
