West end hotel

Nice stay staff lovely and great food in restaurant. One negative point bed was a bit uncomfortable in one room. Perhaps turn mattress round more as it had a dip which a bit uncomfy. Shower bracket broken which was a bit inconvienant however everything else good.

Not quite what expected

NIce staff & rooms clean & reasonably appointed. Room was quiet. But I specifically call ahead to be sure of wi-fi in room before booking such is the importance for business. No signal on 4th floor 1st night & so moved for second & not enough bars even then. Struggles & eventually go www with Ethernet cable. 1 or 2 maintenance issues re:wardrobe hinge & shower hose but the bathroom was good & liking my morning shower it did the trick. Breakfast just meets description. Hotel not busy so buffet got a bit dried out. No non-meat alternative beyond just doing without & having egg, tomato, mushroom, beans. Go location for me: half hourly bus to/from airport & 10-15 minute walk to SECC & good choice of restaurants very near & all-day grocery shops. Recommend but only just

I would not recommend to anyone

I stayed only one night in this hotel, I found the room pretty comfy and clean. But!!!I! I arrived about 3pm to the hotel, and I found the at the reception desk a new staff, he was really nice, but he had no idea what he is doing, probs his first day, they left him alone, so it took 15mins for me to check in. Finally a woman showed up at the desk, and started to shout at the poor guy, why he is so useless.... This is unacceptable, I work in the hotel industry as a restaurant manager, I would never ever give a hard time to my staff, especially if they were new. The other problem was in the evening, when I ordered a dessert and a cocktail to my room, I had to phone the reception 4 time when finally someone picked up the phone about 9pm. I rodered what I wanted, after 1 hour and 15 mins, nothing came up to my room, so I went down as no-one answered the phone again. I had to deal with a problem, that they lost my order!!!!!! and because it was after 10 they can"t serve food for me as the kitchen was closed. No way, I said, I ordered in time, so I want my food right now. Finally the manager (or whoever he was) arrived and solved the problem, in 15mins, I had my order. What a horrible story, I will never ever going to stay at this hotel!!! This is a nightmare for me. By the check out, I asked the receptionist ( an other new staff) to call a taxi for me, after 30mins, I went back to the reception to ask what's happening with my taxi, and all he said " omg, am very sorry, I forgot about it" WOW

Convenient Access to Western Glasgow

Excellent Indian restaurant on this property. Convenient access to Scottish Exhibition & Conference Center, Kelvingrove Gallery & Museum, Glasgow University and other locations in western Glasgow. Must try the Sisters restaurant across the street. Staff leaves a lot to be desired. Room quite ordinary, but reasonable comfortable for a short stay. The horrid Scottish weather probably negatively influenced my whole attitude about this stay.

Great price for that last-minute weekend getaway

I thought that what I paid for this hotel was shockingly low for a major city. The hotel is perfectly located for exploring Kelvingrove and the University of Glasgow museums and art galleries, and nearby dining options abound. It's a short taxi ride away from the Central and Queen Street stations. My room was tiny and needed some repairs (it looked like the attempts to repair flaws in the wall had been abandoned mid-way), but other than that it was perfectly suitable for a long weekend of exploring Glasgow. The staff was friendly and helpful, and promptly made sure that I could get a good night of sleep when I called at 1 am to complain about a neighboring room blasting loud music, heavy on the bass. When a taxi returned my lost wallet to reception after I had left the country, the hotel staff offered to mail it to me in Sweden. On the other hand, be prepared to do without amenities like room service food after 10 pm (but you can have beers delivered from the downstairs bar!) or essentials like loaner power adapters or sewing kits. Since the heat in the room automatically turns off when you leave the, taking a shower immediately upon returning to the room is not the most pleasant experience: you only get two not particularly fluffy towels and no bathrobe, but I imagine that more towels would have been sent up if I had asked. Overall, I'd definitely go back to the Lorne if I were on a tight budget.

If you're not feeling up to the formal atmosphere at Mother India across the street but still in the mood for some incredible Indian cuisine, check out the cheaper, more casual Mother India's Cafe just a few blocks away, where Sauchiehall St and Argyle St meet.
