Stayed for one night before flying to Las Vegas. Booked triple room several months before. When we arrived we were informed no triples left would have to have double with a roll out bed!! Waited ages for the bed to arrive. No extra towels, cups
etc. told reception NOT to keep my card open as I would pay cash got anything else we bought. So bought 2 drinks and paid cash. When I checked bank statement after my holiday found they had also taken money for the same two drinks off my card!! Had the hassle of ringing them to try and sort it. Still waiting for refund. Be aware and check your bank statements .
The best thing going is that this is right by the airport, although you have to detour through the parking garage to get there. The room was OK but needs refurbishment (chipped furniture etc.), and more than two pillows. It's great if you just
flew in or are ready to fly out. It's comfy, but could be better.
Room was good and very clean. The hotel was perfect for an overnight stop before taking a flight in the morning. Slightly longer walk from the terminal to the hotel than one of the other chains but not too arduous to push a loaded trolley.
Hotel features (5 = best, 1 = worst):
Short walk from hotel
M & S food hall in terminal good place to pick up small snacks.
The biggest selling point of this Hilton is that it's practically on top of Gatwick's south terminal. You can walk from door-to-door in a few minutes without ever going outside.
There's not much else to it, though. The rooms are spacious and
clean, but the beds are a bit stiff and there's no room service after 10pm, which is a disappointment for those arriving on a late flight.
I always stay in the Hilton London Gatwick Hotel due to it's perfect location, an easy walk to the terminal. I ask for certain rooms and the very courteous staff always help with my request. A very clean and comfortable Hotel.
We arrived at reception and had to wait a while, because of this we were given an upgrade. Unfortunately because of the room change it lacked basic cleaning. The bathroom and bed were clean otherwise we would have complained at the time, instead
of next morning. The floor had not been cleaned and we picked up hair grips and paper, there were crumbs on surfaces and rubbish in the kettle cupboard, the lounging unit was badly stained. We had just been to a very stressful family funeral and just wanted to relax.
No free wifi, not so great for checking flight information
Since most folks just use this as a place to lie flat before or after flying in a cramped space for hours, the room doesn't need to be spectacular. But you do need access to wifi if you are from another country with a phone carrier (Verizon) that
doesn't have good international service and you are relying on wifi to check flights and stay in touch. Of course, they are making even more money knowing this is the case which just makes those rug stains and uncomfortable mattresses that more galling.
