Perfect short stay.

Slightly obscure to find initially. Better signage would help. Staff are very helpful and security is good. Room was very clean and adequate for purpose. Position of hotel is excellent for sightseers, and price is very reasonable.

The hotel is a little run down and has a funny smell. My room was exceptionally small. A colleague of mine was at the same hotel, and had a much larger room. Everything is just a little underwhelming. The towels are small and have an unusual smell, the beds are lumpy and have plastic underneath the sheets. The carpet is blue, the curtains are dirty. On the good side, the rooms are clean, and the location is great. If you are going to be out all day and only back at the hotel to sleep, then this is the place to go on a budget. If you want to relax in the hotel, this is not the place to go.

Great location, but...

The price of hotel was great, but didn't expect not fitted window properly. Room was very cold, but heater was working properly. I had to have it on all the time not to feel the cold from the window. Edinburgh is absolutely great place!!! Best ever!!!! But be aware of the weather :-)

Is what it is

I had been looking for accommodation for over a week before I finally booked through this site.. They offered the cheapest price for this hotel compared to other big name comparison (considered so by Irish, UK and European users) including the hotels own site. You really do get what you paid for and if you are looking for a 'base' for which you just come back to sleep and unwind then this is ideal. It is a no trills hotel and is evident on arrival with no lounge, no bar, no restaurant - just a reception, vending machines and lifts. It is 100m for the main rail station and the airport drop off bus stop (£6 return) and for the tourist just 200m down from Carlton Hill... The biggest issue I had was that the site doesn't have any photos and the bare minimum description - so much so I did go into this thinking it maybe a hoax and only for I used this site before I took the risk. To which I still called the hotel the following day to confirm the booking and price (two nights £59).. The hotel promote that they have rooms from £19 - but these have to be booked 21 days before the date.. Also a small thing is the address is wrong its 17 not 3.. Finally if you do wish to see imagery of the hotel go onto 'Trip Adviser' and look at peoples posted images (Even the hotel site does not supply any).. In all I got accommodation for £59 and not £120 on average I thought I might have to pay.. I traveled alone so I went for the double room... My room had: kettle, two cups, tea and coffee, cheap soaps that break after one use, four towels 2x2, one extra pillow, open wardrobe, flat screen with basic channels and two sockets... Noticeable that is missed: in room telephone (morning calls), shampoo & shower gel, bath tub and hair dryer I would also say the floor boards in the hall were squeaky and the walls were quite thin but again you get what you paid for I stayed in 110 facing Waterloo Place rd and I didn't have an issue with outside noise

Money-saving tip: In Hotel

If you wish to book on before the 3pm mark - but it still can only be after 12.. Then you will be charged an extra £10... I got in at 9am, left my bag into the main railway station 100m away for £7 and started the tourist thing by getting the bus around... I had seen most of Edinburgh's attractions and had a lay of the land by 3pm check-in time
