Bare bones

This is a very basic hotel with only the essential features; for example, there was no phone in the room. It is suitable for an overnight stay on your way to something better. We knew this going in; we chose it because our Whiskey tour bus departed and returned just across the street. Cleanliness and staff responsiveness was satisfactory.

Great Location

Edinburgh Waterloo's Travelodge is an average hotel in an outstanding location. You'll be close to everything and it's just a few strides from the pickup point for Heart of Scotland tours which I thoroughly recommend! My only seriously gripe was that the internet I paid a week for kept logging me out but otherwise it's a good budget stay in a great area of Edinburgh!

Travelodge waterloo place

You get what you pay for with travelodge- went during fringe and was fully booked so got landed with a twin room instead of double but it was only for 1 night. Location is just of Princes St. 3-4 min walk from Waverley Station/ Bus tops. Quite a few cafes nearby and the st james shopping centre is is just over 2 mins away

Basic hotel in fantastic location

This budget hotel is located right across from Waverley Station with all the major sights of Edinburgh in walking distance. The hotel is fairly basic: rooms are small (but clean) and staff/support/infrastructure is pretty minimal. Staff were friendly and helpful. It cost less than a third the prices of nearby hotels and, as such, represented excellent value. Edinburgh is an expensive city and this hotel is definitely worth considering if you are on a tight budget. If you want bells, whistles or frills you'll need to look elsewhere.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

The restaurant at the National gallery looks over Princes Street Gardens. It does a good, reasonably priced breakfast and excellent coffee!

Short stay

For a short stay in Edinburgh is this Hotel top. It's only a short distance from the main shopping street, Princes str/Rose str.and the Royal Mile. The room we had was under ground level so didn't have a view but that wasn't important this time round.

Shopping tip: Short walk from hotel

For 'Touries' perfect, the Bus stop is about 200 meters from here. St. James Mall is just around the corner and Princes/Rose/George Str. are all within 5 to 10 Min walk.
