Ideal city break
From the moment we arrived, the service received from the staff was excellent. I was like a pampered pooch. Located in the heart of Edinburgh with everything on your doorstep, I wouldn't go anywhere else.

We stayed for two nights in February
We stayed for two nights in February 2011 at the Glasshouse paying £165 for a 'Deluxe room 1 -Queen". For quality and location this hotel scores very highly. The only downside is that for this price one gets little other than the room. Breakfast and broadband are extra. To be honest breakfast was not an issue (The Frankie & Benny's restaurant in the cinema complex next door is perfectly good and well-priced), but for a hotel of this calibre broadband should be free. Although everything they have is of the best standard, the Glasshouse lacks some facilities that some may expect, such as pool and spa etc. However, all things considered this is probably one of the finest hotels in Edinburgh (and I've stayed in a few).

On arrival we were met and welcomed
On arrival we were met and welcomed by the entrance. The staff were very polite, friendly and helpful. We were shown to our room which was of a very good standard. The outlook over the garden space and carton hill was very pleasant, toiletries in the room nice and the room itself separated into a clothes, bathroom, sleeping and sitting area. We had a drink from the honesty bar which was a special touch and a wonderful breakfast in our room. Edinburgh itself is a beautiful city. We enjoyed a lovely few days at the glasshouse and would certainly return.

Evenings in Edinburgh
The glasshouse was a cool building with a really convenient location. The staff were very friendly & attentive. The room was very clean although a little on the small side, as was the bathroom. Thankfully I was traveling alone, 2 people wouldn't have any room to move & certainly couldn't get 2 people in the bathroom at once. It might have been my room as I'm not sure how typical it was. It was one of 2 rooms tucked away under the stairs at the honesty bar so I have a sneaking suspicion i may have drawn the short straw and ended up in an odd room. That said staff were great & hotel was cool. I'd recommend it but next time if I stay might ask for a room other than 92 just to see if the other rooms are bigger. The photograps on the website certainly make them look roomier.

Shopping tip:
Short walk from hotel
Check out jenners. It's part of Edinburgh shopping history & right on Princes Street. I'd also suggest trying out some of the older bars on the High Street

How much I loved the Glasshouse
The hotel staff was very friendly. I'm a mis-fit traveler type as I look like I should be staying in a youth hostel. Some hotels have been blatantly rude about this fact that I am not perhaps their type of clientele. The staff was so unpretentious. My bed was the most comfortable, the room gorgeous, modern, and had a lovely view up to Calton Hill. The food was delicious and I will stay there again. Hell, it wasn't even expensive to stay there.

Most enjoyable stay staff were very helpful and pleasant. Great location for eating out, shopping and drinking. Rooms spacious loved the balcony and although did not venture out into roof garden it looked lovely. Although it was sunny it was too cold to sit outside in November. Would definetley go back to the hotel and would recommend to friends and family.
