Located on Princes Street next to Waverley Train Station, The Balmoral is close to the leading luxury department stores and within walking distance of many Edinburgh attractions. Edinburgh International Airport is just 25 minutes by car from the hotel and there are also convenient transport links also from Glasgow or Prestwick Airports. The Balmoral offers 188 opulent suites and stylish rooms, many with views towards Edinburgh Castle and the Old Town. When it comes to dining, the choice of restaurants at The Balmoral matches the mood of the moment. With attentive but non-intrusive service, guests can choose from the hotel's Michelin-starred number one fine dining restaurant; Hadrian's for chic and informal dining or Palm Court for traditional afternoon tea. The stylish Balmoral Bar is perfect for a relaxing cocktail or traditional whisky. For the ultimate in relaxation, the Balmoral Spa is an exclusive retreat offering five treatment rooms (with ESPA and SUNDARI treatments) a 15 metre swimming pool, sauna, steam room, gymnasium and exercise studio. Highly Recommended

The Balmoral Hotel is one of Edinburgh's finest hotels. Centrally located in the city with first-class accomodations, including a wonderful gym faciility, indoor pool and spa (although I didn't use it). My room was very nice. Afternoon tea is terrific after a day of walking around the city. Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast not very impressive, eggs overcooked more than once and store bought brown bread. Could be better. Still, a very nice experience and highly recommended.

Fabulous location, hotel, staff

Probably one of the best hotels we have stayed at. Fabulous location, and staff (especially the concierge - David Musk, Steven). They are all locals, are super helpful, and all their tips for things to do and places to see were right on the money. Can't recommend it enough.

weekend escape

Generally quite nice, but the seating in the room was so uncomfortable as to be unusable. It may have been the chain's top designer who picked the chairs, but the designer could never have sat in them and tried to read. Otherwise, quite nice, with a great (though expensive) restaurant in the hotel.

Balmoral Hotel

The Balmoral Hotel is an amazing historic building placed right in the middle of the new town and old town. It is an excellent location to see all the major sights of Edinburgh. The hotel staff were exceptionally helpful for all of our needs. I would love to return and stay again. Highly recommendable!

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

The Royal Mile, which is old Edinburgh city center is only a short walk across the bridge. The Royal mile is full of a variety of shops and pubs. One end of the Royal Mile is Edinburgh castle and the other is Holyrood House the palace of the queen.
