Short Break

Very well appointed and comfortable room - fridge/safe and other usual facilities - excellent HD plasma TV. The hotel has a very modern/minimalist decor and seating. Brilliant location - but if you are looking for a uniquely Scottish experience or a party hotel, this is not it. Would go back again and would recommend.

Good for business trips

A fine hotel and one I'd definitely recommend for someone on a business trip. The bed was very comfortable and the location is fantastic for someone who doesn't mind a short walk to the main drag. Though I'd say that if you're looking to have a romantic get away it wouldn't be one I'd recommend. But good value for money.

A night at the Museum

Our reception on arrival was underwhelming in contrast to our departure which was smiley and friendly. The toiletries and bed linen were excellent We could find no information on car parking - whether there was anyh, if so the cost and for how long

Ideal location for Fringe Festival

Pretty standard hotel - fairly new and nice pool /gym. Great location for many Fringe venues.

Overnight stay with friend

Walked to hotel from Waverley train station with a couple of stops for liquid refreshments en route! First impression of hotel was good. Easy to find and convenient location to the grassmarket for a night out. Hotel room was clean and tidy. Nothing exceptional but very comfortable all the same. Bathroom bit odd as toilet was in one room but sink was in another along with a bath and shower. Loved the Jacuzzi and swimming pool facilities. Staff was polite and helpful. Beware though of cost of water provided in room - £2.50 a bottle. Got a deal on the room rate so was good value for money. Don't think I'd be keen on paying full price although I would pay bit more for the jacuzzi etc. Would go back if got a decent deal. Been to Edinburgh a few times before and think this is nicest place I've stayed in so far. Don't tend to go for fancy hotels esp for one night but this was really nice.

Stayed 1 night

Good location, very central , near the sights and the station. The room was clean and comfortable. The only problems were the heating was on very high in the hotel generally but it was very cold outside. Also the card key to my room was faulty so had to keep asking the staff to open my door which got a bit annoying. Also there were stains on the carpet . However, the breakfast was good in the morning and they had reduced the price of breakfast and generally the staff were very friendly and obliging.

Great base for doing Edinburgh on foot

Excellent location for walking round the main sites of Edinburgh. 5 - 10 minutes walk from Royal Mile and Grassmarket, then on to Princes Street, to Cineworld etc. Very fresh, smart, efficient, clean hotel. We had a twin room, the beds were very wide for singles so great sleep. Modern furnishings and great bathroom with bath and walk in shower, and seperate loo. Works well when sharing with a friend. Swimmin pool, gym and sauna in basement. Really good value for our late rooms price. Highly recommend

Try the Witchery for late dining. Fantastic setting, twinkling lights.
