Decent, but for the price I would expect more

Friendly staff and nicely-furnished bedrooms. Only fault I can think of is that some things weren't properly cleaned in the rooms - the mug, teaspoon, and kettle. There were also discolorations on the duvet cover, though with that said the bed was comfortable enough.

Time-saving tip: Not Applicable

You can take bus 30 or 33 to or from downtown for 1.50. The bus from the airport to downtown is 4.00. No tips so this is a cheap and fun way to get there

Next to Arthur's Seat

A little away from the centre but next to Arthur's Seat so great location if you like to hike. This is a student home, the amenities are OK, simple but functional. Toilet and shower are shared. Skip the the cafeteria food, which is overpriced at 14 pounds unless you're very hungry.

No private restroom

The staff was very helpful and the location is just aside the Arthur's seat. The room is small but no private restroom... Breakfast is at Student Cafe which was acceptable. I don't know if they change their comforter quite often since no bed alien was under comforter.

Excellent value.

I booked only a few days in advance during the Fringe Festival. Bring a walker it suited me perfectly for location, being an easy walk to the train station and centre of city with buses also bring frequent and close by. The breakfast was included in tariff and was fantastic value with a huge range of choices from continental to cooked. Th room while basic had everything I needed, was clean, bed comfortable and bathroom facilities clean and close to room providing excellent value for money.

Basic But Clean & Functional

This was a good accommodation. It is not for those requiring luxury or amenities, but the price is fair for a clean basic room. I had a shared bathroom/shower, but it was always vacant when I visited. Breakfast in the morning was better than expected and basically all-you-can-eat. Also, the staff was the most polite and accommodating I have ever dealt with. I don't want to oversell it; it isn't a great room, but it is good value-for-money. The walls are thin, though.

Cheap and simple

The hotel is not walking distance from the city center, but it is easy to get there using public transportation. (there is a bus every 10 minutes or so). The staff is friendly and helpful. They gave clear instructions for getting to town, called us a cab, and also had a full list of local pubs where we could watch the World Cup. The breakfast is cafeteria style, but filling and not bad. The rooms are fairly simple, college dorm style, but we knew this ahead of time. Overall, it is a good solution if you do not want to spend a lot.
