Over commercialised

Arrived at 1.40pm , was told could not have room till 3, thought I'd just leave my bag Adidas staying just the night - they wanted extra money !!! Paper Filling out far too much for the hotel benefit, followed by a ridiculously difficult stupid time taking internet registration , the staff themselves had difficulties helping me register & so eventually put me down as staff - to get me online ..phew. All this for a weary customer - never again !!

Too far & door banging

Fair price, a distance to the centre though, fair breakfast - had worse & better. The big negative for me was the loud constant door closures - banging!! - the doorways ought to be more sophisticated so as to stop automatically closing -slamming !!!

Missed shower privacy, but overall a great stay!

A bit far from the city center but nothing too bad. Great staff! Very helpful. It's the perfect hotel if you're a young single 20 something.

Edinburgh First

Staff were really friendly, location was pretty good and the campus was very well set out. Rooms were large and clean and breakfast was amazing. Only downside was people coming in at all hours and being noisy as there are so many people staying there-but that can't be helped.

Cheap and simple

The hotel is not walking distance from the city center, but it is easy to get there using public transportation. (there is a bus every 10 minutes or so). The staff is friendly and helpful. They gave clear instructions for getting to town, called us a cab, and also had a full list of local pubs where we could watch the World Cup. The breakfast is cafeteria style, but filling and not bad. The rooms are fairly simple, college dorm style, but we knew this ahead of time. Overall, it is a good solution if you do not want to spend a lot.

Pleasantly surprised

I was pleasantly surprised at the standard of the accommodation. The reception was bright and modern and the staff were really friendly and genuinely interested in doing the best job they could. This could be said of all members of staff I met. The room was clean and well maintained. I reported a blocked shower drain which was sorted in hours. My only criticism is that the bed wasn't the most comfortable and the TV was very small and awkwardly positioned. On a positive note, free wifi across the campus and a great breakfast buffet. The JMCC bar served excellent light meals in the evening. Everything was reasonably priced and you definitely didn't get the feeling you were being ripped off at every turn. An adequate little shop was open from 8am to 8pm every day. Altogether a great experience and excellent value for money. Yet really get more than you deserve for the price you pay!

Excellent value.

I booked only a few days in advance during the Fringe Festival. Bring a walker it suited me perfectly for location, being an easy walk to the train station and centre of city with buses also bring frequent and close by. The breakfast was included in tariff and was fantastic value with a huge range of choices from continental to cooked. Th room while basic had everything I needed, was clean, bed comfortable and bathroom facilities clean and close to room providing excellent value for money.
