Perfect location in central Edinburgh. Wonderful staff. 2 great restaurants. Excellent breakfast buffet. Close enough to walk ... to just about anything. Very comfortable rooms.

Great stay
Ollie Sep 18, 2009
Overall great experience. Was attending the Fringe festival, where I was involved with a play that was showing. Reception ... gave me a nice room upgrade from a good deal I got through orbitz. Room was on the top floor, nice view, big bathroom, and quiet. I was able to get lots of rest and pick up a good rhythm between the play, events and activities.
Traveler type: Business
Good place for getting some beer and having a good value, tasty meal is Shakespeare, a pub just up the street (ask concierge). I used it as my place to "base it up" with food/drink before running over to the play production every evening.

Hilton was sweet
Brooklyn Kid Aug 11, 2009
The hotel is old but well cared for. Every employee is kind and helpful. Breakfast is a treat, especially if it is included ... in the price, as it was for me.
Traveler type: Couples
A short walk or bus ride to the arts fair and all the many places to visit. Great to be there in the summer.

Sparkling Staff and Service...But....
Jim Jul 31, 2009
The staff and the service was absolutely sparkling and made up for the lack of maintainence and poor ventilation. Looking ... past that the hotel is an historic hotel, things like ventilation and rotten window frames need to be fixed.

tour buses and taxis are great, don't rent a car in Edinburgh, it is nightmare for both parking and getting around. Best left to the Professionals!

Very good hotel in an excellant location. Service 'spot on' as expected. Single room was small with a single bed and quite ... noisy (water heating system?), although great view of city.

Good stay at Caledonian
ARF Jun 2, 2009
Enjoyed my stay at the Caledonian- great location, great room, nice big bathroom. The buffett breakfast was great. Also went ... to the spa and had a good experience- wouldn't say it was the best spa though. The only downside is that I woke up one of the nights with the noise outside. The location is so central that on a weekend night you might hear noise from party goers outside.

first-class all the way!
Edinburgh is like heaven Apr 22, 2009
The Caledonian Hilton is the nicest hotel I have ever stayed at with the most outstanding staff I have ever encountered. ... Every request we made was accomplished immediately and everyone was so friendly. Arriving at 9am after an all-night transatlantic flight, the front desk staff managed to get our family, including three very tired teenagers, into our rooms by 10am, when check-in should have been 3pm! A special thank you to [...] in the breakfast area, who served us each day, for his helpful advice and local stories. Also, to concierges [...] and [...] for wonderful restaurant suggestions ( Brown's) and help booking activities. I would return in a heartbeat!
