Time-saving tip:
Long walk from hotel
Edinburgh, UK really does not have street signs on poles at corners like other towns. Get a good map and you will find the names of the streets edged in stone on the building. Each corner of the building might have a different street name or different place name. Most of the buildings are Georgian design, so don't reley on a place and then turn at that corner because alot of the buldings are similar in color or size

When i booked the room it said
When i booked the room it said breakfast included but when i got there it said breakfast was not included. The toilet seat was broken when i got there. It was not until i got home the following night that it was fixed. The room was not cleaned evry day and the bed not made up. The staff were friendly enough. The location was great within walking distance of most places. The restaurant was a lovely restaurant and the food was good.I had a good stay there despite the room problems. The guests were friendly and one of the recpetion/bar staff was very friendly. If you want something that is not too pricey then i would recommend here.

Good for the price
Great location about ten minutes walk from Edinburgh Waverley station. About 20 Minutes walk to the city centre. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The room was small but that's what I expected for the money. A 2 night stay for 2 of us cost £110 so you can't ask for much! The room was reasonably clean although the carpet had seen better days and one on the chairs in our room had a burnt iron imprint on it...not sure how they managed that!! The shower was only a dribble but the water was hot (we were worried about this having read some of the reviews on here). We chose to not have breakfast at The Cairn as it was £10 per person.. so for two mornings it would have cost us £40... you can get much cheaper just down the road for a fiver. All in all a good budget hotel where the staff were very friendly.

Extrremely pleasant welcoming
Extrremely pleasant welcoming reception member of staff, who also had to serve in the bar. The room was very clean and tidy; the common areas were 'tired': worn carpets on the stairs, tired-looking tbales in the bar lounge, but then shows it is popular. A good choice for an overnight stay.
