Good location off of the bus route
A little noisy in the room at the bottom of the stairway. Staff were helpful to book rooms on first floor due to mobility issues and no elevator. Unprepared for no washcloths but we also didn't have them in Holland either so maybe that is typical "across the pond" ? Rooms were small but functional and they were stocked with preparations for hot drinks and shortbread cookies every day which was a nice suprise.

Not as expected
Everything was very good but these two things: 1. There was something like a hole in the window, so it was pretty cold in the room, so that I had to turn the heating system, which was not enough and I managed somehow to full that hole with the curtain. 2. There was no toilet brush... nothing more to say, this is something essential if you want to keep your toilet clean. However I would recommend staying in this hotel, it is a nice place with minor mistakes, which can be easily fixed :)

Good clean hotel, good location
Good clean hotel, good location in centre of edinburgh. Wi-fi good. A little noisy, but that didn't spoil my stay. I would book this hotel again for an inexpensive city centre stay.

Don't expect a good night's sleep
I only chose this hotel as I was looking something cheap in the city centre - and it was only cheap through a third party. I wouldn't pay full price for this hotel. Positives: Friendly night porter, can stay out as late as you want, comfortable matress, power shower. Staff leave you alone. Room is decent enough size. Negatives: Might as well not have curtains up as they let in so much light in the morning. A lot of noise in the morning from cleaners/people moving around. Very uncomfortable pillows. Bathroom is newly refurbished however stinks of mould after you use the shower. Carpet was filthy and ancient. Hotel does not have it's own restaurant, rather there is an Indian restaurant using the basement. Does not have a cocktail bar as advertised in reception. Walls are so thin that if your neighbour is watching TV you will be tortured.

Great tourist hotel!
Staff was great, and the room was very clean and in good order. It is in a great neighborhood that is a short walk away from the royal mile and other touristy locations. I'll definitely be using this hotel when I go back. The restaurant was so-so. Breakfast, as with many hotels, was less than expected but a fair price.
