Period hotel, ten minutes from the city centre. Numerous bus routes right outside the door. £10 taxi from town centre. Extremely helpful and pleasant staff. No elevator though. The whole hotel was clean and comfortable. Cosy home from home..!

This hotel is out of town and
This hotel is out of town and very relaxing. We stayed in a range of hotels and B&B around the UK and this was the best overall. Hotel and Pub experience excellent - excellent value for money. Breakfast okay. Service at all other times was fantastic and I as they recommend taking a bus into the city. The room we had gave a beautiful view. I visited with my disabled 79 yr old mother and was extremely happy with the overall experience.

Well maintained, good value for money
We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights because we were attending a wedding in Musselburgh and did not want to negotiate Edinburg with a car. The free cooked breakfast is served by buffet and has a wide selection of eggs, meats, fruits, breads and cereals to chose from. The beds are very comfortable. There is a nice well lit bar for a night cap near reception. This bar is for the hotel, not locals and is quiet. It has a nice seleciton of single malt whiskey and a very knowledgable bartender. I did not try the restaurant, but based upon the breakfast, I would assume it is quite good. There is a famous golf course nearby. Edinbugh City Center is a 15 minute bus ride, but there is free parking on site if you come by car. This location is convenient for touring the outskirts of Edinburgh as it is near the City Bypass which takes you conveniently outside Edinburgh to Glasgow, the borders or north. I used a taxi to travel to Princes Street on the last day as I no longer had the rental car and it arrived in under 2 minutes! I recommend leaving your car at the hotel and taking a bus to the city as parking is nonexistent in the city.

Time-saving tip:
Not Applicable
By a day ticket so you can ride any bus for 3.30 pounds. This hotel is too far away to walk anywhere, but you can get to the city by bus if you don't have a car. You may want to stay at Edinburgh City Center if you are planning to go in to Edinburgh and don't have a car.
