LGW Hotel.....
Having booked and paid for our hotel before leaving on our trip, we were dismayed to find on arriving at the hotel that the room we had booked and PAID FOR in FULL was not available to us.....and we were "downgraded" to a lower grade room, with barely an apology. The comfort of the room was far less than we had expected, shower and shower stall badly in need of cleaning and re-grouting, less than comfortable twin beds (we had booked a double) and no shuttle to and from Gatwick......which was the whole point of staying here......In future will book a better rated hotel at LGW, save on the hassle of transport to and from airport, and HOPEFULLY get the room we booked and paid for.......

Great Gatwick Hotel!
Very nice hotel. The rooms are large and very clean. The staff was very helpful and booked our taxi for us to get us to Gatwick to catch our plane. It is only about a 15 minute ride to the airport. We booked the room for the night before our departure and we glad we did. We were able to relax a bit before heading home for the states. The BBQ restaurant across the parking lot has great food at a very good price (especially for the UK.) The only downside is the distance from central london. It is about a 45 minute train ride. It is more convenient to stay in the city but the hotel rates will be much higher.

Worst Hotel I've Stayed At
I've stayed in a lot of hotels, but I never had an experience like this one. My sister and I stayed at the hotel for a week, which apparently was a rarity for this hotel, but the staff acted as if they couldn't wait for us to leave. For starters, they list outlet adapters among their amenities, but they didn't even have enough to satisfy the few American guests that they had. Even though I'm pretty sure we stayed there longer than most guests, and we continuously asked to be alerted when some of the adapters were returned, we never even caught a glimpse of one (and eventually had to buy one ourselves). To continue discussing the indifference, and oftentimes rudeness of the staff, would take several more paragraphs, but I'll keep it short. They were horrible at directions and apparently didn't even know what times the local shopping centre was open. They constantly cut us off while we were talking to them, and occasionally even muttered stuff under their breath, even though we were nothing but pleasant to them. Once, they even forgot to give us a very important wake-up call. While we were requesting one for the next morning, we told them about their negligence and stressed that it was very important they didn't forget us again, but the clerk just rolled her eyes and nodded as if WE were the idiots. Apart from that, they charged for EVERYTHING. There wasn't a laundry room, only the option to pay an arm and a leg for laundry service and dry cleaning. Needless to say, we found other options. Also, they charge for wifi usage and you have to use it within 72 hours of purchasing it, which is ridiculous. As for location, the hotel is located within walking distance of Three Bridges station, which made it very easy for us to get around. There is a shopping centre about the same distance in the opposite direction, but its opening hours are limited (like most places in England.) The only conveniently placed restaurant is the Harvester, but when we went there it was overcrowded and the staff was extremely rude, so we left without eating. Honestly, I only have two good things to say about the hotel: their scrambled eggs were really good (for hotel food, anyway), and the maids were very efficient.

We needed an hotel close to Gatwick airport to catch an early morning flight. Shuttle service was not available, however the person at the front desk mentioned to us that the hotel has an agreement with a taxi service (10 pounds for a single travel, which is a good price considering how expensive cabs usually are). Staff was very friendly and helped us to get our taxi on time.

Very nice
Lovely and clean room, very spacious, much like a North American hotel. Breakfast was pretty good too, pain au chocolate, croissants, sausage and scrambled eggs with a variety of breads, cereals, fruit and yogurt. The one complaint was the coffee, the machine they have makes all different types, lattes etc and the coffee was really awful.

If you can find a private cab company to get you a ride from the airport to the hotel you will save a tonne, I paid 16 quid from the airport to the hotel and less than 10 quid from the hotel to the airport.

[...] The hall ways smell of Roach spray , the rooms had No covers when I requested one they told me the are above the bed " Apparently two hand towels classify as Blankets" the manager 30 min later brought a duvet to the room (with a small bug on it - i took pictures of these things) . The rooms had NO working phones. I feel completely ripped off . The floor of the restroom was filthy and should not be walked on in bare feet. The hotel does not offer shampoo bring your own , but they do have a 3 in one hand soap you are welcome to use in your hair?

Great place to stay
We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The staff were extremely friendly and very helpful. Rooms were immaculate and quiet, bath/shower facilities were excellent. I would definately recommend this hotel. FYI they had a lot of tour buses go thru etc but nothing overwhelming. We chose this location because it was close to Gatwick and easy to get around driving, Brighton is 25 mins, train access to London was frequent and easy to get around from Victoria station via the tube. Town center/mall is a 15 min walk. What is not shown is that there is a new wing and a new, well stocked breakfast facility. There is also a good eatery/pub on the same site which we used often. For us a family of 4, the sleeping was a little tight with all the luggage etc, would have liked 2 double bed arrangement in a single room. Overall one of the best choices if you are travelling around busy, hectic London.

We really enjoyed the southeast coast. From naval Portsmouth east thru Arundel, Bognor Regis, Brighton, Eastbourne, Seven Sisters/Seaford, Beachy Head, all fabulous places to visit. M23 allowed easy driving access to other places (Bath, and north of London)
