Brighton is a city that blends its deep and extensive history with its own distinct modern feel. The Royal York Hotel is a place that perfectly incorporates Brighton's dual personality. The hotel boasts fine examples of Victorian and Edwardian decor mixed with contemporary stylings and features. It is easy to see why this hotel stands out from the packed crowd of Brighton hotels. The hotel also offers a restaurant and bar which take advantage of the Royal York's regal history. Both facilities give a great feeling of grandeur as you enter that you won't forget any time soon. The restaurant has a fantastic menu that will not fail to disappoint, while the bar gives you a relaxed atmosphere to sit back and enjoy a few drinks. This business friendly hotel also has karaoke rooms, meetings rooms and conference venues so that the Royal York can offer the complete package. Its central location also means you never have to go far to get to the great things this city has to offer. as a elite radisson member and a frequent of this chain, my wife and i were incredibly disappointed with this hotel. this is in fact the first time i've been disappointed enough to write a negative review about a hotel. we arrived and were told that their comptuer systems were down. some people would say that this is not there fault, but i feel in this day and age this is no excuse - a ruined trip is a ruined trip. we were unable to stay at the hotel. the one bright note is the staff were amazing however and did their best to find us another room. this unfortunately took 3 hours. we ended up checking into another hotel after 11pm, which basically ruined our trip. it would have been better to just arrive the next day. what a waste of time and money. we will definitely not be staying here again and would recommend anyone else staying there.
