Beautiful hotel

Beautiful clean stylish and very spacious room, lovely food and staff really accommodating. Out of the way from the hustle and bustle of blackpool but close to beach, few nice pubs and can get the tram to north shore although we enjoyed the walk. Hotel offers discounted tickets and private entrance to pleasure beach too. Will be booking here again.

Break with grandchildren

Just had a 3 night break at the Big Blue in order to visit the Pleasure Beach, Tower Circus, Sandcastle Watrerpark etc. Hotel is very handy for the Waterpark and couldn't be closer to the Pleasure Beach and a 2 mile walk to the Tower. Accomodation was very good and the family room was just the job, breakfast was excellent and despite being very busy staff kept food supplies topped up. Eating at night was fairly pricey and better value could be had not too far away.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

The Pleasure Beach VIP plus pass was an expensive option at £42 each but turned out to worth it as we did not queue for longer than 5 minutes when "normal" visitors had to queue for an hour or more.

Perfect for the Pleasure beach

Stayed last year and did the same again for a seaside treat with our two girls aged 7 & 5. The family rooms with the bunk beds are perfect when the girls are this age. Hotel clean, staff friendly and efficient and rooms big enough for family of 4. Nice buffet breakfast. The pleasure beach access is great and the walk around passes for the night before are a nice touch, If you are visiting the pleasure beach this is the hotel to book.

Fantastic Family Hotel

We booked this hotel to combine the Mama Mia Theatre show and then a day at the Pleasure Beach. (Family of four, children 12yrs & 8yrs). It all worked out perfectly for us, there is a tram stop across the main road for access into the town centre & the theatre. Hotel guests receive priority entrance into the pleasure beach with an exclusive entrance next to the hotel, wristbands/park maps can also be organised at reception. Quicker access to the rides!! The hotel is very clean and modern and the staff are very welcoming & helpful. Family rooms a good size and we were lucky to have good views onto the pleasure beach. (Will request this side of the hotel in the future). The children enjoyed watching the rides being tested prior to 10am. Rooms also had adequate tea/coffee facilities. There were no issues with the car park and the restaurant/bar area was efficient at all times of the day. Fabulous breakfast with a very good variety on offer. All in all a great experience at The Big Blue Hotel, one happy family.

Great for couples and families

Staff all very polite couldn't do enough for you! Rooms were amazing very spacious and we loved the little soaps in bathroom and biscuits with tea/coffee facilities were a lovely touch and the welcome book was a great help! Food was out of this world scrambled eggs to die for although had to wait on our last morning for a table it is defiantly worth the wait! Only things that would have made this stay better would have been if there was a swimming pool and a spa/beauty rooms for adults to have a relaxing massage / treatments and I'd it was closer to middle of Blackpool... Although saying that there is a tram station directly outside the hotel and if the hotel was closer it may be more noisy so it is proberbly a good thing that it is further away! would most defiantly return again! Xxx

Weekend Stay

The hotel staff are friendly but professional. We have stayed a number of times but not at weekend, this was our first time. The difference is a lot of families with young children and we also was allocated a family room. Above us i can only presume the layout being the same as we heard the children running and jumping creating a lot of noise which disturbed us when trying to relax in the room. The room was at the front of the hotel which protected us from the noise of the pleasure beach somewhat, but we could still hear the roller coasters. you need a pin to exit the car park but they did not inform us as the other times the barrier was broken. We had to go back to reception to obtain the code. Then they changed it again on the Saturday, very frustrating. They need to inform the guests of this when booking in. I think we will stay again but not at weekend.

Clean, comfortable & cheerful

Had a lovely stay at the Big Blue...., found staff to be very friendly & accommodating. Our room was very clean & comfortable, therefore it served it's purpose. Would very much recommend..., those traveling with children will be glad to know that the rooms come with bunk beds in so a family of four will fit just nicely!

Short mid-week break with friends

Can't really fault the hotel in any department. We all enjoyed ourselves and particularly liked the extra large beds. Restaurant food was excellent. Location is a few miles south of the centre but a very short walk across the promenade finds fast and frequent trams and there are also buses (at least two routes) that stop close by. Very handy for seeing the Illuminations, which was the reason for our trip. We will stay there again.
