Our stay at the Grand Metropole hotel was very good.the location was prefect the entertainment at night was quite entertaining. we shared few hours when we returned to the hotel. the only complaint we have is that the last night we stayed a continuous sound was coming from within the hotel. the sound of the laundry industrial washing machines. we didn't complained to the reception since it was our last night

We're a couple in a humid room get us out of here!

Having previously enjoyed a stay at The Grand Metropole in Blackpool we didn't think twice about booking up again. It's an old fashioned hotel, right on the beach front and full of character. On arrival we were alarmed to find it was not possible to have a key for our room, so whenever we wanted to leave the hotel/room and then return we had wait for a member of staff to become available before allowing us to re-enter our room. We were checked into G5 on the ground floor, straight away we noticed was very small, we could barely get in past the huge wardrobe which blocked the door way. The room was dusty, there were hairs in the bath and there was a strange musty smell from the bathroom which worsened when we returned from our evening meal. Our room was right beside the tramline and main road the noise from this was awful. To make matters worse the windows did not open and the room was very stuffy and humid. I contacted reception using my mobile phone and asked if there was any way we could have a fan, I was told this was not possible and would need to wait until morning. We were lucky if we got 3hrs sleep between us and we checked out first thing as we could not wait to get out of there. On checking out, I overheard the reception telling a potential guest that the rooms pictured on the website are their best available rooms and further explaining that some rooms may not meet the same standard - so in a sense she confirmed we got the raw end of the deal. Not happy as this was only a 1 night stay and it was completely ruined.

Thank goodness I only had to stay1 night, when I entered room 170, overall impression was ok,but it needs a serious update, bathroom has bad lighting, damp, dirty ceiling, bath panel needs a paint as does inside of room door and the pipes on view in bedroom.there is a sea view if you can see through dirty windows, couch and sheets are stained, hole in wardrobe and around toilet seat, staff are very pleasant though.

Tiny beds

Would not recommend Tue, Jan 8, 2013
January 2013 I stayed at this Hotel, in a single room, While I am only 5,5 tall and average build, the bed was definatley child size as i managed to fall out of it twice, the breakfast was a pile of either burned dry sausages or sloppy other options, the hotel cleanliness was a little lacking and the diningroom was disgusting, they had 3 waiting staff for at least 100 guests, so getting a pot of tea was a bit of a wait, i asked for the use of an Iron and ironing board, i might as well as asked for the takings from the safe, i was told one would be sent to my room, i didnt arrive, i asked again the next day and was told i couldnt have one and they couldnt find them and they apparently had 'loads' of them accorrding to the receptionist....one good thing, the bathroom was very clean.....

More OAP than VIP

Would recommend Sat, Aug 21, 2010
Stayed June 2009 and felt more like Old Age Home than hotel. Apart from carers was only guest under 70. Badly in need of redecoration and renovation. Signs of water damage on corridor walls and on old Butlin's photo's. Check-in was too rushed for my liking (had to get meal times from another guest). Was very pleased with room however, well furnished and clean. Bathroom was modern and spotless. Was less pleased with stains (possibly urine) on corridor carpet. First night in dining room was greeted by whom I assumed to be the Head Waitress/Server not with "Can I help you?, Hello! or Can I See Your Room Card?" but with "AND WHERE DO YOU THINK YOU'RE GOING?!". Based on all my experiences on that first day I can guarantee I will not be going back again

Entertainment hint

Grand Theatre and Funny Girls. Two very different venues but two GREAT Nights out.
