Great Location, but.....
This is a decent hotel. The heating needs work. The Shower curtain smelled of mold and mildew. The staff was terrible when it came to messages. All messages was suppose to be sent to your room and displayed on the T.V. That never worked. My family complained that I was hard to reach. Which was because I never got messages. Outside of those problems the location is great. It's a about two blocks from the rail station and one block from the Bullring. Your right in the heart of a small asian community so plenty of restaurants.

Birmingham Holiday Inn City Centre
Nice hotel, good size room with great temperature control (not so common in Europe). Very efficient check in. Good breakfast. My room was facing the main road so got noisy early in the morning. Nice firm bed (again hit or miss in many European hotels). Great location - very near the New Market St Train Stn near main shopping area. Try to get a room away from the main street and on a higher floor. Reasonable rates.

Nice and clean!
We stayed at this hotel one night on our route from Wales to London. It was a great location for us since we took the train and it's only a short walk from the train station to the hotel. It's also right near a shopping mall and a movie theatre. We didn't have any plans for sightseeing in Birmingham, but it was great for doing a little shopping. The room was medium sized, but very clean. I was very satisified with the price that we paid for this hotel. We paid much more for hotels in Dublin and London (and upgraded) that were not nearly as nice as the basic room at this Holiday Inn.

This is a decent hotel in a good
This is a decent hotel in a good location adjacent to the Chinatown area and only a couple of hundred yards from New Street Station. It has all the usual comforts and facilities of a good quality city hotel and the prices were quite reasonable. Having said that, the Hotel is typically impersonal and don't expect a unique or special experience. My only real gripe was that I couldn't get a drink at the bar after 11.00pm, although I had my room card with me, because they didn't accept cash and I hadn't registered my credit card when checking in. Sometimes it is the small things like that that can give you a negative feel about a place.

Stayed here for 2 nights over
Stayed here for 2 nights over a long weekend break. The receptionist on the day was a bit rude and doesn't even look at the receipt i brought along as an evidence i have paid in advance! She should have looked at it first before asking my name 3 times for confirmation of booking! However, the same night i had to call in from the room regarding the internet access and the person on duty was a pleasant and very polite to talk to.As such, if they could maintain the good level of service among staff i think that'll be great.
