A very comfortable Hotel that exceeds our expectations. Hotel is in centre of Aberdeen and all in walking distance to various places. Six of us stayed for 3 nights and would recommended this Hotel for any breaks.

Ok for a drunken holiday

We were underwhelmed by our experience at this hotel. On the positive side, we found the staff to be very friendly, helpful and polite, especially those working at breakfast, Ana and Pedro. There was a good selection for breakfast; vegetarians are catered for well. The hotel is in a good location with limited parking. However, rooms are quite basic. The bed was small in comparison to other 4star places we have stayed. The shower/bath is not to everyone's taste. The curtain tends to stick to your skin. The safe didn't work while we were there...a previous guest had forgotten to leave it open but staff should have checked this and put it right before we arrived. There was a small selection of teas. Placement of the TV in the room should be given further thought...perhaps attach it to the wall opposite the bed so both guests can see it. We found that it was in an awkward position. At night, light comes into the room despite the drapes being pulled across. This makes it difficult to sleep. We ordered dinner the night we arrived and were disappointed that it was cold in parts so we didn't leave a tip! It is extremely noisy with the sound of the gulls, traffic, emptying bottles etc. but that is what you get with a city centre location.

Highly Recommended

The location was perfect! It was central to everything in Aberdeen. There was a street market right outside the hotel the entire weekend. The room was just the right size for myself and clean and comfortable.

Ideal location for business and studying travellers

Initially I was dubious due to the mixed reservations however on entering the hotel I found the staff to polite and accommodating to my needs. On entering the room I queried a couple of things pertaining to my room but the response ensured that the matter was resolved within minutes. I am due to return to Aberdeen in June and my first choice would be the Thistle.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

I did not use the restaurant at the hotel due to the prices not fitting my budget. However, the hotel is located in a prime spot accessing all of the main steam eateries and more.

Christmas visit to family.

Excellent staff who dealt with requests very promptly and couldn't do enough for us. Great room with very comfortable bed and view of Union Terrace Gardens, which was great for viewing the fireworks display! We will return to this hotel again without hesitation.

Wonderful night's sleep

This was my first time ever of staying in a 4 star hotel (I got a wonderful deal), and I had a fantastic stay at the Caledonian Thistle in Aberdeen. It was perfectly situated for getting to the places I needed to go either by walking or catching a bus, lovely decor, and friendly staff (one was particularly sweet when I was explaining how my 4 year old and I were going to Disney Magic Show...she wanted to come along too). I stayed in a standard twin room with my daughter, which was an ample size for our needs. It was a lovely surprise to see that the hotel had kindly provided colouring books, crayons, puzzle books, modelling clay kit, etc for my daughter. The beds were so comfy, we both fell asleep in no time; with our room being situated towards the back of the hotel, we slept right through the night without any disturbance from traffic or nearby pubs. Plus, as someone who suffers from back problems, I found the mattress to be perfect and woke up with no aches :) The room's amenities were great...TV, 2 phones, iron & ironing board, hairdryer, slippers, dressing gowns, chocolates, hot drink facilities, bottles of water, miniatures in the bathroom; all you need to take is clothes, toothpaste and toothbrush as everything else was provided. Must add that my daughter loved the big, deep bath; it was a struggle to get her out of it. In the end, I had to coax her out by saying we were superheroes on a mission to get rowies for her Uncle, and remind her we were going to Codona's. I wouldn't normally stay in a 4 star hotel, as with my budget I can't afford it and go for cheaper accommodation like Travelodge instead. But, as I mentioned earlier I got a great deal and I'm glad I took it. I would happily treat my daughter and I for a stay here again.

Outsourced to another hotel at the airport

Arrived late in the city centre only to be told they were full and they have a room for me at one of their other hotels, at the airport! I won't be booking with this online agent or this hotel in the future.
