Tamani Hotel Marina

I had been living and working in Saudi Arabia for 3 months prior to my visit to Dubai. Needless to say, I had been missing my Finacee, who I was meeting in Dubai, very much. I met her out for dinner and drinks on Thursday night. When we returned to Tamani, I was told I could not bring my wife-to-be into my room. Despite my pleas, she was refused. I left the hotel immediately I don't expect to be proselytized to when I visit a hotel. I expect to be served.

BEWARE!!! definitely not what you would expect from a 5 star rated hotel.....needs alot of updating! a contruction site outside the hotel made it difficult to get to hotel by car.... had to ask for bathrobes on arrival, and had to call everyday for towels the day before our departure our room was not cleaned

I was 100% disappointed of 5 star service advertised on web. I rank the Tamani Marina Hotel in Dubai as 3 star service. I had been charged 50% additionally for second person which was a shocking surprise. On top of that I could not stay for a few hours a day in my room due to excessive construction noise, see attached video.

The hotel's location is, according to locals, in one of the best places in Dubai, namely Marina. the view is great and the staff members are courteous and helpful. Around the corner a Carrefour supermarket can be found. Metro stations Naqeel and Dubai Marina are on walking distance (7 and 5 min. approx.). Bus 88 brings you to the famous Al Jumeirah Mosque in about 35 minutes. Taken into account that prices of regular activities and services are sometimes less than half of what you pay for it in western countries, it makes sense that lots of people consider moving to Dubai for employment opportunities. My trip took place during the hottest period of the year which means that temperatures can climb up to 42 degrees Celsius and more. Make sure that when you go during Ramadan (Kareem) month, you are not allowed to eat and drink in public.

The Tamani Marina Hotel is located on the Marina with lovely views of the bay or the city. Unfortunately, the rooms are not being kept as they have in the past. My family of four had to switch rooms because the first room had food on the carpet. The second room, which was on a non-smoking floor, had been used for smoking and the fire detectors covered with tinfoil. When this was mentioned to the head of maintanence he laughed uncomfortabley. The good aspects of this room are its space, location and the comfort of the beds. I would not stay here again unless I got a very good deal.

WARNING. This is an islamic hotel and this fact is not mentioned or outlined in the discription of the hotel. Islamic hotel means no bar, no alcohol, no entertainment, no mini bar, no night life, interruption of the TV program at prayer times, etc. The restaurant facilities and the food is less than average and expected. The rooms are the smallest rooms I ever experienced as a frequent traveller around the world. It is almost impossible to walk around the bed. The pictures displayed in the hotel description are out of 120 m2 suits. But not of the standard rooms. The first hand attactive rate is overcompensated by the tiny size of the rooms and additonal costs (e.g. parking costs for car at 20 UAE DHS, internet extra charges 25 UAE DHS/H, etc.). In other hotels in Dubai this is normally free of charge. The staff is unfriendly and restrictive applying islamic rules. RECOMMENDATION: If somebody wants to spend a couple of sunny days in the nice Marina area of Dubai, this hotel is definatelly a no go!!!!!
