The Shalimar Park is a great budget
The Shalimar Park is a great budget hotel- don't expect luxury, but do expect a decent hotel with friendly staff and an aquarium in the reception. The electric appliances sometimes don't work. The location, in Al-Murar, one of the old neighbourhoods now busy with Indians and East Africans, local cafes and tailoring businesses, is only a block from the Corniche and a kilometre walk from the Metro at Union. You met get woken up early by the call to prayer at the adjacent Sheikha Latifa mosque, but this is the real Dubai!

This is the one hotel everybody
This is the one hotel everybody has bagged, it was clean, close to city centre of Deira, for one star was exceptional. The only downside was across the room from my window was a mousk, drawing the curtains at certain times of the day helped to reduce the noise level. Would stay here again

für den Preis sehr zufrieden
- recht sauber (nicht zuviel erwarten!) - hatte Einzelzimmer gebucht, bekam Doppelzimmer, somit recht geräumig - Toilette spült nicht richtig, Dusche kaum Druck - Moschee vorm Haus, d.h. morgens gegen Sonnenaufgang besser das Fenster schließen, der Gebetsruf des Muezzin ist ziemlich laut und dröhnt genau ins Fenster (hat auch seinen östlichen Charme) - Klimaanlage (vorhanden und funktioniert!) leider nicht geringer dosierbar - führt dazu, dass man immer wieder für eine Weile ausschalten muss - jedoch auch damit kann man leben - Frühstück habe ich nicht benutzt, kann ich nicht beurteilen - das Personal ist sehr freundlich - die Gegend ist nicht die beste (wohlhabendste), jedoch habe ich mich sehr wohl gefühlt - arabisches turbulentes Treiben auf der Straße bis spät in die Nacht - Zusatzbemerkung: Ich hatte Bedenken, ob die Hotel-Rezeption auch wirklich 24 h besetzt ist (auf einer Seite schrieben sie, man müsse bis Abend eingecheckt haben) = Problem für Spätankömmlinge. Keine Sorge, diese Befürchtung war unbegründet!
