Framed by flamboyant tropical gardens, Le Meridien Dubai Hotel and Conference Center is an oasis-like retreat, placed between the airport and the city of Dubai. A chic low-rise exterior reveals angular modern interiors and design quirks like the beer barrels and Irish charm at The Dubliner's Restaurant, and the showpiece fish bowls at Seafood Market. Take a course in spinning or yoga at the Natural Elements Fitness Center, or learn to create your own kitchen masterpieces with guest cooking classes (fees apply). Or let someone else do the catering in the spirit of rural Italy at Casa Mia, or the lookalike streets of Bangkok at Sukhothai.
Key facts
  • 383 guestrooms
  • 18 restaurants, including Sukhothai, Casa Mia, Yalumba and Kiku (Japanese)
  • Spa
  • Business center
  • Extensive meeting and conference facilities
  • 4 outdoor pools

Neighborhood
Le Meridien hotel is just a few minutes from Dubai airport (DXB) on Airport Road, with the Dubai Creek River and elegant Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club also close by. After checking out the 370 stores, catch the Metro into the city at Deira City Centre mall, and visit the world-famous Gold and Spice Souks, also in the Deira area. Business travelers will appreciate the closeness of the Deira Business District and the Dubai Airport Free Zone.
Hints and tips
Many ground floor rooms have lovely views over the gardens, and some have direct access to these as well.

For a truly memorable experience, consider upgrading to a Royal Club room to enjoy exclusive breakfasts and cocktails from the leather-upholstered armchairs in the private lounge. Royal Club members also have access to a private pool.

Ideal location when you've just got off the plane!

Stayed here for a week, meeting up with hubby flying in from KSA, & it was the best choice we could have made. Sure, it doesn't have the cachet of some of the newer 5-stars down by the Marina or the beachside, but it's lovely - laid-back, comfy & very welcoming. It has all the facilities anyone could need and probably the most charming staff you are ever likely to encounter in Dubai - they are definitely its secret weapon, polite yet friendly, eager to please without being embarrassingly deferential. We had a great time, in the end probably spending more of it on the complex than outside without ever feeling we had missed out. The pools and Terrace area together supply all you could want for a relaxing break - definitely to be recommended.

Great place for a layover

I wanted a chance to relax and spoil myself before I got on another flight. The rooms are great, the staff was great, and there are plenty of restaurants and bars on site. It's a great place for an Expat to stay.

Perfect for my business stopover

I would've given top marks across the board but there was some building working going on. Although this didn't particularly disrupt my stay, it did mean in certain areas they were dusty and blocked off. The staff, on the other hand, were exceptional. My luggage had been lost on route and the staff were great in helping to follow up with the airport. Meridian Village has some great places to eat and easily charged back to the room.

Experience

I stayed at Le Meridian near the airport and i must say i was a bit hesitant to book it in the last minute. I was absolutely wrong in my underestimation. They were magnificent from the moment i stepped in till i checked out. I will never hesitate to stay there again and/or recommend it for any of my friends. A special thanks goes for "Neil" at the front desk who received me upon arrival, to "Ricoh" from the "Service" desk who was amazingly helpful as well, to the Room service who did an excellent job, and to the duty manager "Lorie Manuel" who was there when i checked out in a fraction of a minute. Simply thank you.

A resort within the city

Overall, the facilities are a little dated. That said, the staff's first class, and the amenities are generous. Frankly, I would opt for this combination, as opposed to a modern buildout with average staff. I stayed in the Royal/club rooms, and the package is value for money. Breakfast, tea service, happy hour, in room canapés, and it goes on. That said, tried the outlets...Jules, Seafood Market, the Japanese restaurant, and the Italian restaurant, and all were very expensive. Seafood Market was nothing short of exorbitant. The same concept in Asia would have been 1/5th the price. Observed sanitation issues at all the bars...namely, using the same hands on dirty glasses and clean glasses without washing. They lost my second course(appetizer), and forget to order the entree (45 minute arrival) at the Italian restaurant. Restaurant manager was gracious enough to offer dessert and comp the meal, but that's not the point, especially on our last night. To add insult to injury, noticed the chef came out to greet the locals, while ignoring everyone else, and then having a seat with a colleague/friend. So the rooms side gets an A+. F&B gets a C.
