Dubai Golden Sands 3 Apartments
Soby Nov 1, 2009
We stayed at the hotel for 7 nights during the October half-term break and it was an ideal base for our stay with a ... supermarket and exchange bureau very close-by. Dubai Museum and creek area were a 20 minute walk from the hotel. We booked a number of excursions via the Hotel Tourism desk. Official taxis were easily attainable from outside the hotel and Golden Sands also operated a daily beach shuttle which was handy to reach the Jumeriah beach area.

The were expecting us. They had free secure parking. The rooms were large and clean and even attractive. The Lonely Planet ... guide rated this one "adequate." I don't know what they expected. It's the only place I've stayed in Dubai. For the price, it's the best value I've seen. The hotel is in a rather anonymous hotel district with restaurants on the nearby main street. It was too hot even at night to walk very far.

Take the MegaBus tour which costs around £25 per person for a whole day. You can jump on and jump off at various attractions. You can do both Old Dubai and New Dubai routes. Really will save you a lot of money on taxis.

Self-Catering is definitely more economical if you have young ones or on a Budget. For short journeys use metered taxis and don't be afraid to ask locals for cheap resturants with good food.

Golden Sands Hotel experience
Haseeb Sep 13, 2009
The experience was an average one although a little dissapointing and in-convenient. The hotel room was of a good size, ... clean and regularly serviced. However the furniture was quite old the kitchen utilise (sink, fridge etc) were quite old and not modern. The hotel is certainly very close to old Dubai (Bur Dubai) but it's very far from the major attractions that people go to Dubai to see. The restaurant is quite good and swimming pool is great. Taxis are near enough impossible to get and you really have to wait a long time for a taxi to come outside the hotel. Once you get a taxi, they do charge a lot of money so really it's more value for money by paying extra for a better hotel on Sh Zayd Road. However if you are on a tight budget or you have booked late in a busy period and cannot get booked into another hotel (our situation as we could not book at any other hotel) the this hotel is good as a last resort. My honest suggestion would be to spend a little extra and stay at a hotel on Sh Zayd Road where you can easily get taxis and you can walk down to some nice shops and it's really the start of a wonderful experience in Dubai. Especially with the metro system opening soon, it will be much cheaper to get the metro which will be accessible from hotels on Sh Zayd road

Great family getaway
NJae Aug 16, 2009
We stayed at Golden Sands 10 (there are 11) from August 5th-15th 2009. The hotel staff were very good to us providing quick ... service when and where needed. We arrived to the hotel at 8:00am and they checked us in without even a question of the time. The rooms were clean, the bedding and all towels were changed every day. Room were large and beds comfortable, definitely a home from home. We didn't use the hotel's restaurant, so I'm unable to comment on it. All appliances worked and utensils, iron, ironing board, microwave etc were all included. Wireless Internet was only provided free in the reception area but at a cost in the rooms. Malls, shops, supermarket and sites are all in close proximity of the hotel. Beware of the white taxis outside the hotels, they are much more expensive than the Dubai-taxi service and you can't view their meters while they're driving as it's in the glove compartment. A good advert for Hotel-Apartments at a good price.

Anniversary vacation on a Budget
BELLS Jul 28, 2009
Golden Sands Hotel Apartment #3 is well located with lots of facilities within 10 mins walking. Staff was friendly, but had ... VERY poor communication with each other, as they did not brief the new staff on duty. So sadly be prepared to repeat things at least 3 times to different people.Car rental and Tours for all Golden Sands are at #3 so that was very convenient for bookings. Still shop around before you book. For Currency exchange, go to exchange Bureau across from Ramada Hotel (about 5-7 mins walk) as rates are very low at Hotels.for example hotel gives for US$1 = 3.50 Drhms but at Bureau US $1 = 3.65DrhmsThe Beds...oh the BEDS...Worst night sleep I ever had. If you are over 6" tall forget it...they call a double bed ...KING Perfect if you want low key accommodation, self-catering facilities, and then use your funds for tours and stuff. For $54 pn for 1 Bed Studio we got what we paid for.Watch how you travel in metered taxi. If you will be doing multiple trips and stops may be more economic to Hire a luxury taxi (Lexus)at the front of hotel. For a safe, friendly and reliable driver for City tour and hourly trips, we travelled with [...] 971 508 194 292, He is EXCELLENT and accommodating. If you contact him with your arrival date he will meet you at the airport and take great care of you and your family.Happy travel folks.....:-)

SPINNEYS(we only see happy ex-pats around shopping) In your apart/hotel you have a nice and clean kitchen with all the aplicances needed for a good fast food. Great price, friendly and convenient
College Professor Jun 7, 2009
I and two college students spent 17 nights at Golden Sands for a study-abroad class. Golden Sands offered great value at a ... reasonable price. Major pluses were full kitchen and clothes washing machine in the room, helpful staff, great tourism office on site, car rental on site and friendly staff. City taxis at reasonable cost were readily available. We saw all the fabulous malls in Dubai, took a great dhow cruise, took an incredible desert safari, took a wonderful tour to Abu Dhabi to see the stunning new Sheik Zayed Mosque, toured the Jumeriah Palm Island and much more. The hotel is convenient to the new Dubai Mall with 400+ stores and a spectacular water show in front of the Burj Tower, the tallest in the world. We took city taxis all over Dubai and Sharjah for 17 days at a very reasonable cost! Avoid the white private taxis right outside the hotel which are overpriced. We walked about 25 feet to the corner to catch a city taxi. If you can fly into Dubai on Emirates Airlines do so; service is wonderful, food is good and entertainment system is second to none. There are two Spinney's groceries a few blocks away, but the Grand Grocery, less than one block, is fine for most needs. Dubai is an incredible destination you should not miss.

I fly from Afghanistan to Dubai to the states every 90 days. The delay in Dubai is normally 10 to 12 hours. So I relax in a ... quiet atmosphere, sorrounded by nice restaurants and I feel refreshed when I get on my secomd leg of the trip. My second stay was just as enjoyable as my first. Everywhere I go in Dubai I have to pay for Internet Connection; at the Golden Sands is free!

Awesome place to stay
Sri Apr 20, 2009
I stayed in Golden Sands 5 for 3 days - Its an awesome place to stay. Here are some interesting factor: 1. Once we reach the ... place, the hotel boy helped us to bring all our suitcases to the room. 2. An Indian restaurant and Grocery centre infront of Golden Sands 5 (even though the hotel has a indian restaurant) 3. Just call the help desk and they will arrange personal cab for you (little extra than normal cab) 4. The bedroom, kitchen and bathroom is very clean. 5. They have free shuttle to the airport, but we didn't use it. 6. My flight is around 9PM, but we checked out at 11am, so we kept our bags in their lounge area. We came around 6PM and pick our bags - its free. Overall its a great place to stay.

Dubai Golden Sands Hotel Apartments
June Mar 3, 2009
I had an amazing time in Dubai and my stay at this hotel was second to none. The room was spacious and clean and the hotel ... did a wonderful job at making sure i had everything i needed at all times. It was just a phone call to housekeeping and i had whatever i requested. It is within walking distance to Spinneys supermarket so eating was very cheap. The only complaint i have is the landing on the 6th floor walking down from the pool on the roof of the 7th floor is very very slippery. I fell as soon as my feet hit the concrete and you have to be very careful if you are walking the stairs wet and not using the elevators. Other than that, i would recommend this to anyone and i am prositively going back again for another visit and will use this hotel again.

Good, clean hotel. Showing its age a little, but well worth the price. Ate buffet breakfast at Golden Sands 3 (adjoining) ... and also arranged tours through the travel desk located there. Enjoyed the free internet computers. It is about a 20-26 minute walk from the hotel to Dubai Creek and the souks, abras, and other attractions. Enjoyable walk several times. Would stay there again; not luxury or glitzy, but well served the purpose of a clean, comfortable, convenient place to stay.
