The hotel and resort is huge, so it helps to know where you'd like to spend most of your visit, asking for a room in that vicinity.

The dolphin activities in Dolphin Bay are very popular, so ask staff about the most open times for playing with these beautiful, intelligent creatures.

Excellent hotel and staff

From the minute that we stepped out of the taxi, to the day we left nothing was too much trouble for the staff. They even overheard us talking in that we need some more napkins and they appeared. The room was spacious and clean with a bath room that you could open into the bedroom. Awesome! The underground aquarium was amazing and we stood for ages just watching all the fish swim by.

Birthday+Anniversary

We booked an Ocean Deluxe room. When we arrived I mentioned that it was my birthday and our anniversary. They upgraded us to the Palm Beach Deluxe room which has a MUCH nicer view overlooking the Royal pool and the beach and of course Dubai's magnificent Skyline! The bathroom was really spacious with separate toilet room, shower and bathtub. The room was super clean and spacious. All guests get free access to Aquaventure Waterpark and The Lost Chambers Aquarium. Because of these attractions, the place was packed with kids which was one thing we didn't like as a couple. That was one the reasons we didn't enjoy the pool. The waterpark was lots of fun and it's definitely a place worth visiting even if you don't want to stay in the hotel. The beach was a little weird. since it's a man-made island, the "beach" didn't have much tides as you would expect in a regular beach. it was relatively still. We had lunch at a burger joint called TBJ. My husband got a beef burger and i got a veggie burger with a side of fries. We both enjoyed the meal although it was pricy for a burger joint. We decided to book a second night since i really enjoyed the place (although my husband not so much due to the amount of kids and the noise). My husband mistakenly booked the wrong date. When we realized that a couple of hours later and contacted the online booking company , they were amazing. They contacted the hotel and made the changes necessary. On the other hand the hotel manager who we spoke to at the time was so unhelpful and basically told us it was not their problem since the booking was not made through them. and they didn't even offer to help or anything. they completely dismissed us even though we mentioned several times that it was my birthday and our anniversary . We stayed at many hotels around the world and we never experienced such treatment. My husband was really upset and wanted to take me to another hotel so that the night would not be ruined but thankfully the problem was solved through the online booking company. So we stayed a second night. We gave the staff one star because of the booking issue and because they were generally not friendly. when we arrived they didn't even offer to take the luggage and we decided not to ask because we heard of the long wait. Overall, I would recommend the place but not for special romantic occasions because of the kids and the noise.

Brilliant - but hidden charges

fantastic for activities (Water park, dolphin bay, spa, aquariam, shops etc) and amazing location (sea, view, pool, easy to get downtown) and lovely room. All staff very helpful and polite. My only criticisms would be: 1. No free WiFi in the rooms (charged you £20 a day!) - this is way behind the times. All hotels have free WiFi these days. As did all the other hotels we went for dinner in. Shocking. 2. Tried to 'upsell' us at every point and over-serviced. Need to listen to our requests and deliver, rather than try and change our minds to buy more. And in shops, just leave us alone. We're here to browse and relax. However, would definitly go back!!

Mixed experience

Checking in to the hotel was complete chaos and took an hour. We felt like just another number at the hotel. Not the kind of service you expect from a 5 star place and nothing other than am apology offered. Our deluxe room was stunning - notwithstanding that the walls do not keep out noise as much as we would have expected. Could not get a reservation at the restaurant we wanted to dine at and the pool bar menu was overpriced and unimpressive so we ordered room service - the food did not disappoint. Aqua adventure park is a world of fun! Recommended for the experience, not sure i would go back though.

Great stopover spot, if you can stand the expense

Lavish, lots to do, comfortable. Everything it advertises to be. However, even for someone that has travelled to 36 countries and is pretty well off, this place is eye- wateringly expensive. Lots of food choices - disappointed with the Lebanese restaurant though - very expensive and virtually tasteless what we had and less ambiance than it could have. Inclusion of free entry to waterpark is great though. Be advised that you need waterproof shoes that can stay on, as the pavements literally burn your feet!

Great hotel, but not matched by the general ability of the staff

I have a 3 day stay and enjoyed my time. I stayed on the club level. The hotel is very nice and the room comfortable, while the staff are friendly they also seem to be a little on the slow side and do not always seem to know what they are doing. this was particularly evident at the desk on level 12 which was always crowded with people with what appeared to be routine requests that took an age to resolve. I would recommend the hotel, but be patient

Wonderful place for children

The lobby was unpleasantly crowded because we were there on the weekend but service was friendly and reasonably efficient. We waited over an hour for our luggage to arrive. The room was comfortable but a bit tired round the edges. Lovely view over the water. The Imperial Club experience was great with interesting food and amenities, free entry into everything with breakfast & dinner but it was AUD 800 a day. The pools, the waterparks & all other facilities were fantastic. Overall a real experience.
