The Hilton is ok, but that's about it.Its probably the oldest hotel in Abu Dhabi; and its showing its age in places. Rooms are average, just about adequate and require refurbishment. To escape from the constant traffic noise at the front of the
building, especially late at night and early morning we had to change the upgraded room from the third to the sixth floor which was only marginally better. The air con unit was noisy too, and we had to turn it off at night so we could sleep, although we were forced to turn it back on again a few hours later due to the heat. We were also not made aware that work was being done to extend the beach area, and although efforts were made to limit the inconvenience it was difficult to ignore at times. All the staff we encountered were extremely pleasant, professional, hard working, and try very hard to please. Given the competition from the surrounding newer hotels I think we will be trying elsewhere if we return to Abu Dhabi. We were returning customers to the Hilton which was acknowledged by upgrading to a city view room on the third floor when we checked in, although I dread to think what the noise levels are nearer the ground floor. Not much the hotel can do about the traffic noise, especially being so close to a busy junction and one of the main shopping malls. The UAE have their problems with boy racers competing with each other in their big engined cars just like we do in the UK.
Hotel features (5 = best, 1 = worst):
Plenty of good eating places in the city and shopping malls, although it would be expensive with a family to feed. Try eating at the local family run restaurants in the city, its a lot cheaper than hotels, taxis are cheap and the streets are relatively safe to walk, although I would not advise single females to do so.
