Do not book at this hotel if you value your belongings or your life

Within days of arriving, more than $3500 worth of my personal belongings, including my life essential medications, were stolen from my hotel room. The head of security visited my room after a few days only to accuse me of misplacing my own things and making fun of me in front of his colleague. His solution was to visit my room to search for the bags of items I supposedly lost in thin air only when I would be away at work. Suspicious? I of course declined such a ridiculous suggestion. An "investigation" concluded that "nothing was taken from my room" and that was that. I requested more than five times a day every day since the incident to speak directly with the General Manager who only called me after 12 days, telling me "we do not compensate for guests misplacing their items." I was informed from a member of staff that this happens "regularly" - purses, food, personal items being taken from rooms almost on a daily basis. It just happens. When mentioned to the GM it was received with hostility. It has been almost two months with no official apology, no official offer for compensation or offer to find a solution to the fact that I am without my life essential medications which are not available in this country with the extra fact of me not yet having health insurance as a newcomer here. I've had to make due with what I can on my own, but I've suffered daily with illness as a direct result of this unfortunate incident and a week and a half ago I almost died when I had seizures, convulsions and completely stopped breathing right smack in the middle of work, was rushed by ambulance to the emergency room where I stayed for seven hours, and was then bedridden for a week and until now am going through gruesome testing at the hospital. My work - the reason I am here - has been put on hold - doubled by the fact that I am not being paid for sick days, so more money lost. So too has my entire life, been put on hold. Diagnosis: I was off my life essential medications for two months. Why? Because of a "five star" hotel that not only steals from their guests, but accuses them of their own crimes, neglects their needs, ignores their complaints and keeps their heads high as their guests struggle to live on a hospital bed. Oh, and by the way, the hotel was made aware of my dire situation in the ER while I was there and are very aware of the reason why I was there to begin with. But guess what, still no word. Still no action. Just their version of "five star" quality service.

Great location

Everything was great…Few exception are the rooms can be cleaned better; only one staff at reception at check in, during the stay, and at check out; I had to carry my suit case up on check in and down on check out. That could be due to the lack of staff during the Eid holiday.

Worst 5 star experience ever

It took 2 and a half hours to actually get into the rooms. First of all the check-in process was over one hour and then the rooms were not next to each other and one had stale urine stains on the toilet, which a manager described as "just a few spots". The Friday brunch had excellent quality food but was advertised on our deal as a value of 400Dhs but inside the hotel was valued at 169Dhs - we were cheated in buying a deal. On check-out the staff never asked about the stay and the luggage man threw the cases as he liked - luckily the breakable things were in a handbag and not the case. This is not the service or care that I would expect from a 5 star hotel.

With Better Staff it Would Be Well Worth It

Most travellers are spoiled when they visit five star hotels in the UAE because the staff go out of their way to make your visit pleasuable. At the moment, this is not true of this hotel. It looks likes like a five star hotel, but it lacks five star customer service.
