Good Service
The hotel was better then I expected. They had very friendly staff and most all of them spoke English well. They were very helpful with any questions I had and provided a high level of service. The breakfast was buffet style so there is something for everybody and a lot of different choices of stuff to eat. The hotel prices for lunch and dinner weren't bad the food was good. The bar doesn't have much of a selection for beer though. Only 3 brands. Tuberg isn't bad and Carlsberg is ok but I don't care for Corona. I don't drink mixed drinks or hard stuff so can't comment on it. They had excellent Security at the hotel and the room had it's own mini safe. I left stuff out like my laptop computer and camera and it wasn't touched when the room was cleaned. The WI-Fi didn't work in the room and was super slow. Also the water out of the tap had a yellow tint to it when you filled the tub but they provide free bottled water for drinking. Other then those two things the hotel was a good value for the money considering hotel proces in the Ukraine. The hotel is a short walk from the city center and there is a TGIF Fridays close by, I would definately stay there again if I go to Kiev. The Room was small but really comfortable.

Short walk from hotel
You can get really good coffee and a waffle at a coffee shop on the street a short walk from the hotel. It cost about two dollars but it is well worth the walk for the coffee and waffle. Can't tell you the name of the place because I can't read Russian but if you walk towards the city center it is just past the metro station in a kiosk.

Location is great
Location is great, no doubt. Center of the city, walking is easy (if it's not snowing of course). The room it self is super small and if you have two suitcases be prepared to jump over them when you need to get out of the room or vise-versa. If you get a king bed, it's not actually a true king, it's two twin mattresses jammed together, and you do feel the difference. Breakfast, which is included, is pretty decent with lots of food choices. I can recommend this hotel for location only, standard rooms that this site sells are way to small for a Western traveler.

Great hotel
I really enjoyed my stay there. It's wonderfully post-Soviet, but the staff is friendly, speaks decent English (if you need it). The room was a decent size, the location is great for all the tourist stuff—just a short walk from pretty much anything you'd want to see. They've got complimentary breakfast every morning full of pretty good stuff. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay there. The only complaint I have is that their taxi service was a bit of a rip off. They won't call an external cab for you since they've got their own driver and they charge you UAH 350 (around $43 USD) one-way from the hotel to the airport. Coming from the airport to the hotel in one of the city cabs it was UAH 228 (around $28 USD). So, they really get you bad there which felt a little sheisty to me.

Don't take their cab service to the airport—it's a rip off. Go down the hill to the main drag there and see if you can hail a city cab. It will save you about $15 USD.

Nice hotel, good location
The hotel staff was friendly and very helpful. I find the hotel to be very clean and the large complementary breakfast was excellent with a variety of choices. Something for everyone. All in all a great place to stay and good value as well. I would stay here again.

I liked better than Dnipro and Lybid --- Staff more friendly, location good, off the street so, quieter -- did not include breakfast (Dnipro and Lybid do include breakfast)

Rus Hotel in Kyiv
Very helpful staff, much more so than I expected given the language barrier. Ukrainian is the local language and English is the only language I really speak. Many things, signs, are in both Ukrainian and English. English is the default second language; so it's not too difficult to get along in Kyiv.

A pleasant surprise
Clean hotel, good location near downtown Kiev. Room a bit spartan but more than adequate. Breakfast buffet excellent.

The hotel is located within a reasonable walking distance from the old town and there is a Metro station nearby. The buffet breakfast is varied and perfectly acceptable, the rooms are clean and fine for a sight seeing visit. The staff are very friendly and helpful.
