Wonderful place to stay
I can't say enough good things about Kreshchatyk Guesthouse. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to make my stay a good experience. The apartment was perfect with a great view from the balcony. The Guesthouse is in a great location within easy walking distance to restaurants, supermarkets, the underground shopping mall, internet cafes, and Independence Square. When I asked the staff if they knew of any city sightseeing tours, they not only found one for me, but made all the arrangements as well. This was a wonderful place to stay. I recommend it highly and I would love to stay at Kreshchatyk Guesthouse again if I ever return to Kiev. Thank you all for everything you did for me!

Shopping tip:
Short walk from hotel
There are two supermarkets, a huge underground mall, many restaurants within a short walk. Just watch out for some of the street vendors on Kreshchatyk Street; most are OK but a few will try to cheat you out of your money -- especially the guys who want to take your picture with their doves.

Good friendly staff will go out of their way to help you. Good location if you can stay where they advertise. Taxi service was good. On the downside, they didnāt put me in the location that they advertised on the site. The place they did put me in was on a side street about four blocks out of the way. The lights did not work in the bathroom; Hot water heater did not work. (They did come and repaired both of these items) The couch was so dirty and worn out that I would not set on it. The stair wells had poor or no lighting at all. The business card they gave me the phone numbers didnāt work; thank God the mobile phone number did work. No bottle water supplied with the room and you canāt drink the water, so you must buy water. If youāre a single female traveler I do not think I would stay there. When I go back to Kiev I will stop by to see the staff but, I will not stay there again.

Don't expect a house at this "Guest House"
First of all, anyone wanting to stay at the Kreshchatyk Guesthouse should be aware that what is offered are separate individual FLATS (apartments) in one or more apartment buildings in the vicinity of Kreshchatyk Boulevard. The location is great, and the flat I stayed in, though in a building with broken-down corridors, was a gracious high-ceilinged one with bedroom, bath, living room, and furnished kitchen. But there is NO GUESTHOUSE per se! The picture they post on the web is totally misleading in this regard. If you try to find the address at number 29/1 on Kreschchatyk Boulevard, there is nothing there but a small plaque -- easily missed -- high up on the wall directing you to a rear entryway, where you have to use a phone connection to reach someone in an upstairs office who will then come down to meet you. As for the woman who met me there, she gave a warm welcome but knew no English, so she could not explain to me where I was to go or why I was to be escorted by two men who led me three blocks away to a dark alley, though a heavy iron door, into a dark dilapidated basement entrance to a mostly-empty apartment building.. Believe me, getting to your flat can be baffling -- and more than a little scary -- especially if, like me, you have the bad luck to arrive after midnight. I think I also had bad luck in that my flat happened to be really badly infested with flies, more than in any other place I've stayed in Europe, even though flies were not a problem elsewhere in Kiev at that time. Getting a flyswatter was a first order of business. Probably this will not be your experience, though. Anyway, enjoy your stay, if it's a fully furnished apartment you want. Someone will come by to give you clean towels and room service, and you can shop for food in a great local market. Just be prepared for a challenging experience getting there!

A good stay
We came to kiev for the euro 2012 games, and stayed in this hotel for 3 nights, the hotel offices is located right on the main street of kiev, Kreshchatyk. however our apartment was not in the building but 3 minutes walk from there, still a very centered location. the apartment was big and clean and suited for our needs(3 double beds) , a maid came to clean every day, the room had a TV with tons of channels an a private Wireless network, it was a little expensive but as I understand all kiev hotels were because of the Euro games.

GREAT LOCATION; GREAT VALUE
This place has a great location and is a great value. It's within quick walking distance of the Independence Square area. The apartment has ample space and furniture as well as a fully functional kitchen as well as your own personal internet modem and wireless router. TV includes several English channels. The only down side is that the area outside the building is not well lit and the stairwell leading to the rooms has no lights at all (used my trusty Iphone flashlight program at night). Also has a TGI Friday's 3 doors down for those that need regular American food.

Excellent Value!
The staff at Kreschatyk Guesthouse went above and beyond in their service. When I first arrived, my Ukrainian cell phone no longer worked. Alisa walked me over to the cell phone store, learned that my sim card had expired, and helped me purchase a new card. I was then able to contact my Kiev friends with no problem. Alisa also arranged for a rental car for me, purchased train tickets, and arranged for taxis. Purchasing the train tickets was no simple task. Because of my past travel experiences on Ukrainian trains, I wanted to secure two first class berths so that I could have an entire room to myself. The train station did not have them so Alisa contacted a nearby travel agency who was able to provide them. Then she sent a hotel employee to pick them up and deliver them to me! All that I had to do was pay. The staff at Kreschatyk Guesthouse spoke very little English. Only Alisa, was fluent enough to assist in most matters, but despite the language barrier they were able to handle all of my concerns quickly, efficiently and professionally. The Guesthouse is in the PERFECT location in Kiev. It is right smack dab in the middle of everything. From there you can walk to almost anything you would like to see, or jump on the metro to go to more remote locations. All of the nearby restaurants have staff that speak English, and there are also several locations to enjoy nightlife. There is a 24 hour karaoke bar less than two blocks away. The best part of the guesthouse was the price. Amenities included in room tea, a stove, microwave, dishes, ironing board and iron, and the satellite television even had a few English speaking channels. This was my second stay at the guesthouse, and I don't know if I was just lucky, or they gave me preferential treatment as a return guest, but during this stay they upgraded me to a HUGE two bedroom suite for the same price I had previously paid for a one bedroom. I highly recommend Kreschatyk Guesthouse to anyone going to Kiev, but remember that it is the Ukraine. Amenities there were great compared to most other places in Kiev, but don't expect the same room comfort that you would find in American hotels of the same price range.

Short walk from hotel
There are many places in the immediate vicinity where you can eat. I highly recommend Il Patio. The food is excellent and reasonably priced. There breakfast meals are so inexpensive that some of them cost less than a cafe Americano! It's a truly great bargain.

There was no reception, just an "adminstrator". The person was kind and did not speak English well. However the room was clean, good location and comfortable. I will book again. Thanks
