Perfect location, would prefer friendlier desk staff

Location amazing. Courtyard room needs more lighting, mattress replacement, and the couch cleaned (moldy smell from previous visitors sitting on the couch wet from ocean/pool). Upgraded to garden view, absolutely no complaints with this room. Housekeeping and grounds people extremly polite and friendly. Rony with grounds was exceptionally great, getting my husband coconuts a couple of mornings. The only complaint we had was with the concierge girls. Asking them where something was located outside of the hotel was like pulling teeth, and they never smiled. We felt it was basic service with them at best. All other staff no complaints.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

10-15 minute walk to Pizza Pizza, located above Giggles ice cream. Good food and prices. Found the best snorkeling to be in front of the coral gardens hotel, but fyi that is a long hard 30 minute walk down to hotel by beach, may prefer to grab a taxi back.

Perfect location but apartment needs updates

Location is perfect. Right at the wide beach and the garden is beautiful. Our apartment ( 6201 ) was not up to date though. Ocean view but actually the furthest location away from the beach. Rooms are nice size and the screened balcony was big. Tiles were worn and the appliances old. Right next to the parking lot so there were noise from cars, deliveries and garbage collection. The bicycles free of charge but in really terrible condition. Hemingways restaurant right at the beach but only average and not cheap. Go to bay bistro next door which is much better but also even more expensive. Overall nice but too expensive.

Perfect for us

Sands turned out to be the absolute perfect choice for our three generation travelling party. The kid-friendly atmosphere and presence of other families was great for my 11 year old,, my mother loved the great screened porch, easy access to the beach, and friendly, helpful staff, and my sister and I were in love with the clear clear water, great weather and were happy we didn't have to deal with the screaming masses of kids you encounter at some family resorts. The beach is everything you hear--perfect! Staff was GREAT, although the wait staff at Hemingway's could have taken some smiling lessons. Our three bedroom ocean view actually had a lovely view of the ocean, was roomy and clean. Only complaint is that two of the rooms open out to the sometimes noisy hallway, and beds could have been more comfortable. The main areas of the unit were absolutely perfect. We would definitely come again to Sands! Restaurants were as advertised---a bit expensive, but ok. We liked Da Conch shack and Somewhere best. Overall, we loved TCI, but it's not a place to go searching for cultural diversions. If uncrowded sand, surf, and Caribbean relaxation is what you are looking for, it's right up there.

We rented a car for the entire week----next time I think we will only get one for a day or two. You can drive the whole island in an easy afternoon and it's really not necessary to have a car every day.

Very good but

This hotel was excellent just like all the reviews said it was. But I also read that Hemingway's Restaurant located on this property was excellent and that is not true. The Mango Reef at the nearby Alexandra Hotel was far better then Hemingway's.

Good hotel but lacked nightlife

The hotel room was a nice size, the sofa bed was uncomfortable for the kids. The tiled floors always felt dirty. The beachfront was excellent and so was the food at Hemingway's.

Great Hotel right on the beach

The Sands is great if you want to stay away from the larger resorts on Provo. The buildings are three stories, the grounds are lovely and the landscaped pools are great for kids and cooling off. Rooms (condos) all have kitchens so you can save some money on this very expensive island. The on site restaurant, Hemingway's is casual but very good. Local dive outfits (go with Caicos Adventures) will pick you up at the resort. One minor annoyance is that the watersports desk (Hobie Cats, kayaks, snorkel gear and such) closes at 4:00
