1st Visit to Turks and Caicos

Would recommend Mon, Aug 4, 2014
Pros: - Beautiful beach - right on Grace Bay (blue water, white sand) - Right next to Grace Bay Club\ - Our studio had a fridge, microwave, toaster and washer dryer in the unit - Affordable option (good value for cost) Cons: - Restaurant in hotel is overpriced / not very good (a bottle of water is $7 in the hotel!) - Run out of beach / pool towels a lot - No gym

Money saver

There is a grocery store nearby - go there to stock up on bottled water / snacks as the food at the resort is very expensive!

What a disappointment

Would not recommend Fri, Jul 18, 2014
I paid for a king size bed and got 2 double beds. When I questioned the staff I was told that there were no king beds available. On top of that we had to wait an additional hour for the room to be made available. The room was never cleaned, straightened but never cleaned. Except for the first day we never had a full compliment of towels and the floors were never vacuumed. I would suggest that people try other resorts first, I will not be going back.

Another great stay at Royal West Indies

Would recommend Wed, Jul 16, 2014
Staff is friendly and helpful. Great location, the beach and grounds are beautiful. Never feels crowded. Many great restaurants and activities within walking distance. Rooms are comfortable and spacious. My third visit to RWI and I plan to return soon.

Dining

Coco Bistro is great for dinner, be sure to make a reservation. Seaside Cafe has an incredible blackened fish sandwich.

beauty and the beach

Would recommend Sun, Jul 13, 2014
My husband and I stayed at Royal West Indies for 6 nights. We loved it. The room was perfect. Clean, good size and great amenities. You're on vacation so you really aren't going to stay there long. Our room had a full size fridge, microwave and toaster. This is great as an average meal is 30$/person. Location The resort sits on a beautiful beach. It's close to a grocery store ( bike rental for 2 hrs complimentary from resort) as well as a strip mall for souvenirs. Restaurants are also in walking distance.

1st visit Turks and Caicos

Would recommend Sat, Jul 12, 2014
Stayed in studio garden view. Very basic amenities...no gym. Positives: price, clean rooms, great view, nice landscaping, beach, smaller resort. Staff not overly friendly except for bellman. Issue with slow drainage if tub. Beach location awesome! Some restruants within walking distance. Children loud in the adult quiet area pool. Cabs that serve resort are not very professional. All cabs super expensive and charge based on number of passengers.

Great location and value

Would recommend Sat, Jul 12, 2014
The hotel is located right on beautiful Grace Bay, and is a 15 minute walk from shopping, restaurants and a supermarket. Since the rooms are equipped with a kitchen, the supermarket is great. The rooms are spacious and clean, the staff are friendly and helpful, and the beach was not crowded at all in July. A great value on a beautiful beach; I'd definitely stay there again.

Another Great Stay Experience!

Would recommend Fri, Jul 11, 2014
This was our third stay at RWI in the last five years. We always thoroughly enjoy it. It's not too big and not too small. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The restaurant and bar are nice and not too pricey. The location is convenient to shopping and other dining spots. And the beach is fabulous. We'll be back.

Dining

The Coco Bistro is a short to moderate walk right down the road. It's a unique fine dining experience. Make reservations well ahead of time.

A solo vacay...

Would recommend Fri, Jul 11, 2014
The beautiful landscaping is my fondest recollection of this resort, a riot of colour. The rooms are basic, functional and clean. The only problem was with the drainage in the shower. Hair needs to be removed on a regular basis to allow water to empty that much faster. The wait staff are quite attentive, in particular Derek who worked on the evenings that I had dinner at the resort's lone restaurant, Pelican Bay, and Lopez, the bell captain. Lopez is the perfect bell-captain, has his fingers on the pulse of everything! The restaurant itself, to be touted as a Caribbean establishment, is unimaginative and overpriced for what is really served, particularly the entrees. These are basic, ordinary and too pricey given the final product presented. I would suggest trying anything with conch, it's almost impossible to mess up that local staple. Also, beware when ordering ice cream. I ordered rum and raisin and was presented with basic vanilla with some raisins tossed on, camouflaged with whipped cream and slices of strawberries....a total let down. The restaurant manager should have cautioned the waiter to tell patrons there was none at that time instead of cooking up such a gastronomical disaster. How can one attempt to fake rum and raisin ice cream??? And believe it or not, this showed up on the tab. Shame, shame!! The beach is beautiful! There was never a problem locating towels, a beach chair and sunbrella. These were in abundance. The main pool is located conveniently close to the bar!! There is a "quiet pool" area which is a fantastic idea. However, this area needs to be monitored frequently. Children aren't supposed to be in this area. It's specifically for peace and tranquility. However unfortunately when I was here there was a family with children staying in the rooms adjacent to this pool area. They of course used it as their own private pool....how rude and thoughtless! Were I to recommend staying here it would be for its proximity to the beach and the clean room. However, I am not inclined to recommend the restaurant as highly as I had wished to. I would suggest perhaps checking the restaurant guide that is in the room for alternative dining experiences.

Best Deal in Provo

Would recommend Wed, Jul 9, 2014
We stayed 6 nights at the Royal West Indies. We checked out a couple of other hotels in the area while we were there, and I must say that RWI is probably the best value in all of Provo! A similar room anywhere else in the area will run at least 50% more. Beach is clean, rooms are nice (Washer/Dryer is a blessing). We'll be going back to RWI on our next trip to Turks & Caicos.
