Great Location, Amazing Value, Best Stretch of Beach

Booked a last minute trip to Turks and Caicos and found Alexandra Resort. I was a bit skeptical at the (much lower) price compared to other neighboring resorts (what was wrong with this place? Is it "really" on the beach?), but could not have been more pleased. Stayed in a one bedroom with slight ocean view and was impressed with the size and modern amenities. It was awesome to have a washer/dryer and full kitchen so that we could enjoy a homemade breakfast on the patio each day plus wash our swimsuits that got extensive use throughout the week. The resort is literally on the beach and after walking along the beach past many resorts, I think that Alexandra Resort has one of the best beach locations - spacious with lots of chairs and powder soft sand, and far less kids (and subsequent screaming/throwing things/beach crowding) - it was totally serene without being stuffy. There were also lots of complimentary water sport items - for example, we borrowed free snorkel gear and walked down to Bight Reef (maybe 10-15 minutes) and swam right in free of charge. It was also great that one of the major Snorkel Trip companies was literally situated on Alexandra's beach, which made it super easy to hop on a fun half-day snorkel and conch dive tour. The on-site restaurant was surprisingly good and provided great volume - we tried food at a few other places (resort and off-site), and while Providenciales isn't a foodie's heaven, the resort reastaurant was definitely one of the more tasty places. The only drawback to this resort is that it would be nice to have a small shop on site - though luckily the resort has complimentary bicycles and the grocery store and small tourist area is only a 5-10 minute easy ride away. Overall, I definitely recommend this resort and would come back!

Don't miss the opportunity to snorkel along the outer reefs - Turks and Caicos has the world's third best reefs behind Australia and Belize. Caicos Dream Tours picks up directly on Alexandra Resort's beach!

Great hotel for the money, surprised to the upside. Clean rooms, big balcony, perfect beach location. Mango Reef was excellent for both lunch and dinner. Would absolutely go back.

Winter beach getaway

This resort is a great spot for couples and/or families with well-behaved children. It is laid back and quiet especially in the evenings, which we found very pleasant. The food was very good but there are also excellent options nearby in town. The beach was beautiful!

Beautiful but...

The only thing we felt was exceptional was our room (which was a studio with indirect water views) and how housekeeping was spot on and extremely attentive. Other than that, after your brief welcome speech and a cup of rum punch, you're pretty much on your own. The "concierge" was awful and wrote down our requests because he didn't know or had the right connections so he needed to ask his manager but we never heard back from him. While some staff was friendly enough, most had attitudes and looked like they didn't want to be there. Save yourself lots of money by booking a room with a full kitchen and cook all your meals. We spent about $50 per day for breakfast (2 coffees and 2 English muffins), about $60-$80 per day for lunch ( simple quesadilla or burger) and expect to pay upwards of $200 and up for dinner. The island can't grow anything so everything is imported hence sky high prices.

Great location

Overall, we couldn't have selected a more beautiful location for our 8 night stay. The room was exceptionally clean. Their staff would even restock our towels, tidy up the room and even turn our sheets down, while we were out eating enjoying the night. Our studio room faced the pool area and had a small view of the beach. Our walk to the beach was only about a minute. We never had a problem finding a couple of chairs and umbrella on the beach however, since many guest used more than one towel, finding towels would become a small challenge. Their Mango Reef restaurant served us dinner on the beach. Watching the sunset while being served fresh lobster and wine is moment we will remember for a lifetime. Their staff was kind and always delivered, minus a beach staff's promised towel delivery to our beach chairs one late afternoon.

Rent a car to enjoy what Provo has to offer. The locals seemed to be wary of rental cars and sometimes waved me through when I didn't have the right of way.

Great Family Trip

Hotel was very easy to manage. Staff couldn't do enough. All hotel amenities you would expect. Everything close by, including downtown, which you can walk safely to, U.S. quality food market, etc. Plan on using a lot bottled water if you don't like the smell of sulfur in the tap water.

Dining tip: In Hotel

If you're a coffee drinker, bring a package of something like Starbucks Via with you. Don't need sand shoes on the beach and water. Plan on food shopping as restaurant choices at the hotel are limited, or need to travel by shuttle a sister hotel or other hotels in the area or downtown (<10 minute cab ride or 30 minute walk).

Great atmosphere

My wife and I had a great time at Alexandra last winter. The 1 bedroom with kitchen was a nice layout and very clean. Kitchen was fully equipped but we never used it. Spent most of our time on the beach and used the complementary kayaks and paddleboards. Snorkled once but didn't see any fish, definitely have to go on an excursion for that. Pretty laid back resort perfect for relaxing.
