Perfect choice for Istanbul
The Swissotel is a stellar property in a location that is unbeatable. You can easily walk from the hotel to the neighborhood of Nişantaşı and other areas. The hotel staff is extremely accommodating, and the rooms are spacious, smart, and extremely comfortable. I would highly recommend getting a room with a Bosphorus view. After all, you've come all this way to Istanbul to have a garden view?! All in all, my experience at this property could not have been any more amazing.

Turkish Delight
The Swissotel is perched on a hill over the Bosporous, and has fab views of this busy waterway, yet is a little off by itself, and thus quiet and tranquil. In Ramadan, the city decks the staight's suspension bridge with a fabulous light display, and we watched it for hours from our room. Service was excellent; our rooms were kept neat and tidy, with all our bathroom amenities renewed daily; a man came each afternoon to fill our ice buckets; and the turndown service was faithful. The concierege staff is most helpful. As the hotel's Turkish restaurant was closed while we were there, we ate only light snacks at the lobby lounge, do try their Turkish coffee, and meals at the Swiss Chalet restaurant. You can get a la carte or buffet here, and both are super. Even better, you can dine indoors here or on their rooftop section, and even though we were there in August, a delightful breeze and fabulous views recommend this latter option. And right outside the main entrance to the hotel is a candy-bakery shop with super goodies to buy. Their macaroons, which come in many flavors, were our favorite; our taste buds are still rocking. Don't miss it.

Money-saving tip:
Long walk from hotel
Although its about a fifteen minute walk, you can walk out of the hotel and down the hill past the stadium and onto the main drag that goes along the Bosporous. Here you can catch ferries to many different places, the tram to downtown Istanbul and all the big tourist attractions, and even the funicular up to Taksim Square. (The adventuresome can even take the tram to its intersection with the Metro and go all the way to the airport.) But doing these things as opposed to a taxi will put you in closer contact with the Turkish people, who we found to be delightfully hospitable and helpful.
