For location, rooms, facilities and service, this is perhaps one of the best special category hotels in Sultanhamet. We highly recommend it. (03/09 JMG) Being an old Ottoman school, the building is very nice, painted in bright, light colours, with the typical characteristics of 19th century architecture. This special category hotel is located in the Sultanhamet district, in the Old Town, just behind St. Sophia Mosque and Topkapi Palace, off one of Sultanhamet's main roads. A tram station is two minutes away. Taksim Square, the modern part of Istanbul, and home to all the top brand shops and nightlife, is just 10 minutes away by taxi.

Hotel address: CAFERIYE SOKAK NO:6/1 SULTANAHMET, Istanbul, Turkey --
There are two restaurants. The Padisah, which combines fine dining with stunning views of the Caferaga Medrese, the 16th century handicraft centre. This restaurant offers a menu of innovative Turkish and Istanbul cuisine. The other restaurant is in the garden/patio, and normally serves a buffet menu of international and Turkish specialities.

This was a vey nice hotel next to most of the things to see and within walking distance to the grand bazer. The staff was ... very helpful. I needed a converter to make my computer work and their IT person went out and got us one to use. There is nothing negitive about the hotel to say.

Great location and very clean hotels. Rooms were small but very clean. The location was amazing; we could see the Aya Sofia ... from the hotel doorway.

Perfect Location, local flavor and friendly, helpful staff

I found the Ottoman Imperial a wonderful place to stay for many reasons. It is located within five minutes walk of a number ... of Istanbul's most glorious attractions, including Aya Sofia (one minute walk) the Blue Mosque (three minutes walk), Topkapi Palace and the Archeology Museum (five minute walks). Its local flavor as a converted school with beautiful tiling and features is very cozy, which does include rooms that some might feel are a little tight but were not a problem for me. It has a wonderful outdoor patio which is central for dining or sitting out in between sightseeing or after a long day or for breakfast. The free breakfast was quite sumptuous, diverse and flavorful with Turkish and other cuisines represented. The staff was very friendly and helpful without being officious. Although it is not a traditional business hotel, I had several issues such as shipping materials around Istanbul, receiving faxes and arranging getting to and from meetings in areas outside Istanbul that the staff facilitated flawlessly. Overall the staff was very helpful in recommending restaurants, places to visit and everything else that was requested.

There are many good local restaurants within a short walk. We particularly enjoyed Masen Restaurant, a large outdoor restaurant down a small hill to the left of the Blue Mosque great for sitting outside and enjoying live music. Some of the rooftop restaurants near there offer a tremendous view of the city at night.

Excellent location

The Ottoman Imperial Hotel is in an excellent location. It is walking distance to the major historical sites. The staff was ... very friendly and spoke English well. The rooms are small but very clean. The hair dryer broke and was immediately replaced. The breakfast served was very good with a wide selection of meats, cheeses, breads, eggs, and fruits.
