Amazing vacation
This was the perfect choice for us. I walk with a cane and everything was so close to the hotel. The staff was top-notch, we couldn't ask for more. The included breakfast-brunch was very good and the roof-top dining was wonderful and had a perfect view of two continents! I have stayed in many more expensive hotels that weren't nearly as good as this and would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Lucky to find this gem for bargain price
When we made our reservation we relied heavily on the reviews that were mostly very positive. We were able to walk easily to the historic sites and public transportation. The breakfast buffet was excellent and the roof-top restaurant outstanding, one of the best in the old town area. We found it very attentive that the hotel issued a small flyer every day, placed on the breakfast tables, where they communicated useful information for the day, such as what specific institutions, museums etc. were closed that day or what the weather was going to be.... The pool, although clean and nice, was small for lap swimming. It was good mostly for kids. There was free WI-FI access in the entire hotel and I saw computers for internet access also, but did not ask about fee since we did not need them. We asked for a room in the back for less noise, since the hotel was on a street with trams. Being winter, the heater was on and it was very quiet, not typical for hotel rooms. The hotel has a very friendly, welcoming lobby which came very handy since the weather was pretty cold and rainy and it was nice to get back to it and warm up, check email and sit around there. The staff was very helpful and understanding. When one night a sport team was partying in the rooms, the staff did everything to quiet them down and compensated us generously for our disturbed sleep. If there was anything to complain about, it was the guests who did not behave appropriately.

Check to make sure that the site you are to visit is open that day. Why to pay for a tour where half of the venues are closed and therefore substituted by something else.

We were more than satisfied with
We were more than satisfied with this hotel. Would recommend it without a second thought. The restaurant on the roof terrace is excellent. Of three evenings we were in Istanbul we chose to eat there twice!

This was a really lovely little hotel very well maintained excellent indoor pool and very helpful and friendly staff. The view from the terrace restaurant was brilliant and the food was great. The room was a little small but this was far outweighed by everything else

Great location, short walking
Great location, short walking distance to all main sites ie Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofia Museum, Topkapi Palace & underground cistern etc. Stayed Easter Friday night so room overpriced. Lovely view over looking the old city from restaurant. Room small but clean. The hotel advertises a welcome afternoon tea daily, but this didn't happen.

Outsatnding Service
The Orient Express Hotel Istanbul raises the bar for other hotels wishing to match quality customer service. The top quality service stated when we were unable to obtain a cab because the Turkey Cab drivers were all after the higher fairs for customers disembarking the cruise headed to the airport. So we contacted the hotel and they arrange for a cab to pick us up and provided the number. Well a cab with a very similar number stopped by and confirmed he was sent by Orient Express. Turns out he wasn't and request $58 US in lieu of the $10-$15 for the little over a mile trip. We call Orient Express and they ask us to get the Bellboy when we arrived. The cab driver must have learned what was up and proceeded to drop us off at the corner. I went to get the bellboy as the wife guarded the bags and held off payment. The bell boy argued and took the cabs number. We still ended up paying 30 Lira. But this was much better than $58 US. They were going to file a complaint but since we were only going to be in town one night it would do no good since we would not be available once the police contacted them for our statement. None the less this service was greatly appreciated. We had booked a single room for 3 people and they offered us two rooms because of all of our luggage and I believe to compensate us for our unpleasant start in their country. It turns out the majority of the people we met during our visit were very friendly, so don't let a crooked cab driver give you a bad impression of Turkey. The rooms were small but by European standard above average and the room and entire facility were very clean and well maintained. We did not have time to try the pool, restaurant, fitness center, or the complimentary breakfast. But all of the facilities and other amenities that we utilized were trouble free. In summary it's a well located hotel that is clean and well maintained and the entire staff provides top quality customer service. The Orient Express Hotel Istanbul is highly recommended by my wife, father-in-law, and myself.

Great hotel
Wonderful staff, outstanding location in Istanbul's historic old city only one block from tram station and only 5-10 minute walk to all major sites, terrific buffet breakfast, very reasonable price for all this. Check-in was at coffee table with hotel concierge giving city and travel tips and hot apple spice tea. Room size ok but really should be larger.

Wonderful Istanbul Hotel
Spent a week in Istanbul and loved this hotel, the friendly staff that went out of its way to accommodate us, lovely roof restaurant with breathtaking view, excellent breakfast buffet, an air conditioned elegant lobby, a useful small business office to use computer, air conditioned quiet room, etc. The location was ideal on the tram line and in heart of Sultanhamet.

Recommend you get a good current guide book...we used Rick Steves Istanbul book which prioritized places to see and things to do...with very helpful hints on how to negotiate your way around bazaars, shops, cultural sensitivities, etc.
