Cozy family-owned hotel near Old City sites

Old City's attractions are in easy walking distance from this family-owned hotel. Located across the street from the Beyazit tram stop and a short walk from the Cankurtaran train station, all of Istanbul is within reach of the Niles' guests. The hotel's classic exterior looks far more elegant than guests typically expect of a 3-star hotel. Inside is a classic Turkish style, which provides warm comfort and wraps guests in a feeling of history. The hotel serves a complimentary breakfast on the rooftop Terrace Café.

Highlights

  • Terrace Café has stunning views of the sea and the city
  • Just steps from the Beyazit tram stop
  • Elegant exterior
  • Complimentary buffet breakfast

Rooms

The hotel has 29 guest rooms with private bathrooms. There are single and double rooms. The rooms are decorated simply. The color palette of pale yellow and red complements the wooden furniture. Suites and duplexes are also available. Both are good options for guests who need more space to work or who may be traveling with children or friends. All rooms have wireless Internet access (fees may apply) and air conditioning. All rooms are non-smoking.

Features

The Terrace Café -- with indoor and outdoor seating -- is Hotel Niles' best feature. The restaurant serves breakfast from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. every morning and, the rest of the day, a café menu.

The hotel is a short walk from attractions including the Grand Bazaar, Blue Mosque, Habgia Sophia, and Topkapi Palace. There are several parks and green spaces close to the hotel.

Turkish Delight!

Staff super helpful in this perfectly located hotel for seeing all of the major sights. For a real Turkish experience stay at this hotel in preference to an international chain. Spectacular views from the rooftop terrace where you can enjoy a lovely Turkish breakfast which includes many homemade Turkish dishes which vary each day. Go for an upgraded room with a Turkish bath, it is really worth the extra few lira! We are already planning a return trip.

Great budget hotel near Grand Bazaar

Hotel Niles is a very friendly small hotel close to the Grand Bazaar and a tram stop providing easy links to all the main sites. We arranged an airport pick up through the hotel by e-mail, and this provided a very easy link – well worth avoiding the hassle! The hotel has a small foyer lounge, but this is more than made up by the excellent roof top restaurant and terrace open to residents at all times. The breakfast buffet is extensive and first class, and is available until 11am. The rooms are adequate and very clean, the mini bar is well stocked and there is complimentary tea and coffee. All the staff are friendly and efficient, and make their guests very welcome. We recommend visitors obtain an Istanbulkart for travel on public transport – each journey costs only 2TL using the card and it can be easily topped up. Hotel Niles can provide the card for a small deposit, and they can also sell you a Museum Pass if you plan to visit all the main sites and this saves a lot of queuing time. It’s two tram stops to Aya Sofya and the Blue Mosque but it only takes about 10-15 minutes if you choose to walk. An excellent budget hotel which we would recommend to anyone.

Simple but simply perfect!

Perfect location not only for all the Sultanahmet must sees but also for the Grand Bazar and Spice Market. 5 minutes walk from the Tram station to reach Beyoglu in no time. The Hotel itself is simple but very comfortable with smal but very clean rooms. the staff is very friendly and helpful and the Terasse for breakfast and an good-night drink just fantastic. We can only recommend the Niles Hotel.

Great Value and Location for Old Town Istanbul

We spent six nights at the Nile in March 2013. They were just completing their renovations but this was not a problem for our fifth floor room. The rate was excellent to include a newly refurbished room with adequate toilet/shower. Bedding could be more comfortable. Breakfast room overlooking Sea of Mamarra was perfect as was their buffet and dinning room staff. Front desk staff could not have been more helpful and everything from Grand Bazaar to the main mosques and Galata bridge were walkable even for seniors The Niles is well maintained but some of its neighboring clothing outlets and shops need some sprucing up and streets/sidewalks need a good clean up.. Free web access was a bonus.

Shopping tip: Short walk from hotel

The Grand Bazaar is a five minute walk (slight uphill climb) from the Nile Hotel. Merchants aim high with first prices but almost always settle for 40-50% off. Best to "bundle" items as the more you buy the more they discount. Polite "no thanks" and walking away usually produces their best and lowest offer. Carpets are akin to buying jewelry, if you are not an "expert" you really don't know what's a bargain and what's not. Merchants are friendly, generally not isulted by low ball offers, and will work with you with any currency you happen to have on you.
